Oh yeah of course. Ben said it'd be better to replace the discs altogether and get something nice over shaving them, but I just don't have the money for it at the moment. Shaving might be my best bet for now. How much are brake pads usually?

Ha ha, yeah I know. Early morning just makes me sound more serious then I intend may be?

Yep, just get the rotors machined for now...and save up for replacements down the line. Pads...I have no idea on prices for your car Gaz...but there are a million brake pad threads about the various Subaru forums. Maybe do some searching with your spare time this morning.
You can probably get decent pads for your car through Supercheap or whatever, so watch for specials/catalogues etc. too. (I believe they are doing 20% off store wide today, for example.)

Gazatron, I just realised that Porto food you had yesterday is Salt-Cod in Mash and stuff...awesome. I love that stuff.

Sweet, thanks man. Machining the discs shouldn't cost too much. That's hoping that there is meat left on them and that the machining will completely remove the warped areas. The front pads are about 30% and the rears are 70%. May as well get all discs machined, keep the rear pads and just replace the front ones for now.

I'll be doing just that Pete, thanks man. Supercheap is always an option and is closest to me too. Repco isn't too far either.

It is indeed salted cod! It contains potato, onion, olives, garlic, parsley, other herbs and spices, egg, etc. You can only really get it from a Portuguese restaurant or if you know a Portuguese family that make it. Have you had it before Pete?

Wanting to buy/looking for: single genuine STi rim, genuine STi front lip, Corazon or Zero/Sports grille and another OEM grille

Can you hook a brother up? Please contact me now. I have cash ready.

Just did a search and there are mixed emotions about Bendix. Supercheap stop Bendix, Calibre and Superstop. Bendix Ultimates seem pretty good but judging from the comments in some topics, they are a little dusty. Calibre are from the makers of Bendix and are slightly cheaper, the box says minimal dust, smooth performance and responsive pedal feel. Never used them before and haven't found anything on SubyClub about them.

Superstop are cheaper yet and claim to have anti-noise shims, high heat resistance, responsive hot or cold, minimal dust and wear sensors...

I hate brake noise, closely followed by dust. I don't want to pay premium price for something that a cheaper one will give.

Have you had any problems with the Bendix pads, 'dam? Considering I've only gotta buy front pads for the time-being.

I have bendix ultimates. They're good, but a bit dusty. Just wash your car every week ;)

I will be up for new tyres, new front rotors too probably soon, and a 100k service next week. Cars are expensive huh Garry! ;)

These are the sort of things you should budget for when buying a second hand car, most usually need something done on them. And the best way to learn about your car is breaking stuff then fixing it yourself! :P

Gazteroid...Salt Cod is used in a LOT of European cuisines...From French to Norweigan...I haven't tried the Portuguese style before (like the look of some of those google images you linked though) but I have had numerous dished involving the Salt cod incorporated into Potato. It is just a winning flavour.

There is a saying..."If you can't afford a New car, you can't afford and Old car."
I call bullshit.

I usually wash my car every week anyway so it shouldn't be a problem. I'm just seeing whether I can justify $60 each for Bendix Ultimates over $37 each for Calibre, which are supposedly from the makers of Bendix...

Of course man. I'm not complaining of course, I just don't have the money at the moment to get it all done in one hit which is what I'd prefer. This car seems to be the most expensive out of all the cars I've owned, but it's worth it. I've never been happier with any of my previous cars and taking into account that they were a VL and VS, I'm kinda glad that I'm dealing with something completely new whether or not it costs me that little bit extra. If it wasn't the Liberty, it'd be something else anyway, no?

Ah sweet. Yeah I knew that they were from various other European cuisines, especially Scandinavian countries. It definitely is a winning flavour, especially when your grandparents take the time to remove every bone found in the cod. :)

To a track, no. Not any time soon anyway. It's just a daily drive for me. A daily drive that is driven almost every hour I can get in it. Ha ha!

Ferodo's are better than Bendix, eh?

Isn't Calibre the house brand for Super Cheap auto? As they say "do not want".

I think I will give QFM pads a go next time. They seem to get a good rap

Calibre is 'said' product...however, with brake products in particular...there are very strict controls and standards in place.
I wouldn't use them in the Sled...but for a daily, I bet you they are up to the task.
Depends how much you value the savings over the perceived safety differences.
