Hey all
Getting 300 to 350 km's to a tank in a 2001 WRX
No symptoms or anything not smoke no rough idle cant suspect exhaust leak or anything. Was wondering if there's anything els I can check?

What are you classifying as a 'tank'?

How many litres are you refilling with?

Does the light come on before you fill up?

Tank as in a tank of fuel, not main battle tank .
As in I gets filled to full and after 350 km I'm in the empty zone. I haven't ran it dry I'm not that stupid but each time iv filled up 60L from the empty mark.

Isn't the tank only 62 litres? My car only takes 45 litres when the light comes on.

For comparison, around town my 02 WRX is using about 15 litres per 100.

Dude.... he was simply asking how low you let your fuel run down to and how much fuel you actually fill up per tank after doing your 300kms before you fill up

Thats true... that is quite bas consumption, coz that is like 16-20L/100Kms...

Are you driving the car very hard? Has this just happened recently or has it always been like this?

Well in the Liberty, empty with the fuel light on means just over 10 litres left.

I would be shocked if I only did 350km with ~50 litres of fuel.

Don't v8s get those figures?

With every car I make sure the servicing is up to date.

Eg:
Air filter
Sparks
Fresh bp98 petrol
Fuel filter
Decent oil such as 5w40

17L per hunge Kay's seems high!

But your numbers seem estimates. I would record the exact km and exact litres. Do it for a few tanks, and you will get an average.

Also, is the car standard?

You need to provide heaps of info to diagnose something like this!

Thats why I'd want to know if this was a common thing going on for a long time, or it is something that started happening out of the blue

Haha nah I just mainly do city driving. On a long trip I get about 500 km's.

+1 to what Adam said, there is no use stressing over guesstimates.

Maybe time to replace your o2 sensor in your exhaust and do a reset of the ECU.

Yes. Worth a try. I forgot about that. Did the same for my previous car but it didn't make much difference. Previous owner of my Liberty already replaced the sensor a year or so ago.

The car is driven normally no fast and furious, caltex 98 vortex every time. There are no mods done stock as a rock
Yeh I was also thinking along the lines of o2 sensor. Is it worth taking it to Subaru and get them to do a diagnostic test and see if anything shows up? Last time I ran into this problem it was just an exhaust leak but it was very obvious that it had one. I'm not sure if there's a way of testing for leaks ?

How dirty is your air filter? Replace that, give your AFM a clean with contact cleaner, clean the o2 sensor with contact cleaner, run some UEC through it and reset the ECU.

Next to no tools required to do that and theirs plenty of DIY's online, also would be one of your cheapest options :)

Also try BP ultimate ;)

If I just disconnected my battery on my Liberty B4 for a while, would that reset the ECU also? or is that only for WRXs?
