Anyone used one of those Palmer OBD wifi adapters to get live data on ya iPhone or anything?
I'm keen to try one but just wondering what other brands there are and why kind of port do you need for a GEN3 liberty.
Iv seen vids of that Dash Command app and looks sweet. Just wana know how to go about it

Depending on what year, what model, what ECU etc. most will unfortunately not work. You'll have most success with finding one that communicates via the SSM protocol.

Only one i've found that does that is the OBDKey (http://www.obdkey.com/) to which you can send a few commands which will set it to SSM mode. I think you would have the most success with this one.

I don't think that's gonna help me in what I'm after. Dash command needs a constant wifi connection. I'm gong to look into this more but surly there can't be that hard?

I use a Bluetooth one, which uses a program called Torque. Absolutely brilliant. Cept only for Android so far.

Well im looking at getting the Palmer PLX Kiwi 2 WiFi thats made for iPhone and Android and is perfect with there DashCommand software which is the best looking that i can find.
Palmer say that it will fit into pretty much any late model Jap car that use ISO9141-2.
So as to Tim's reply not sure ?

Best. $30 odd (for dongle) and $5 for software spent. EVARRR.

Best.

But, must be OBD2 compliant. SSM sucks wang.

definately need something that is SSM1 or SSM2 (depending on what year your car is) capable if you want to be sure it will work.
I have tried multiple obd2 scanners on mine, none would work. Have since tried a couple of SSM2 scanners and they have both worked perfectly.
With SSM2 on the B4 you can get all the TT operating info, wastegate, ECV, IAC, 2ndry relief valve, dP sensor volts, and all the other solenoid outputs. Its a massively handy thing to diagnose any tt issues.

If you are talking B4 - depending on which model of course, but most devices will not connect. I have tried multiple devices from cheap bluetooth OBD dongles to cheap USB OBD cables to expensive Tactrix cables and have not yet had success.

From the research i've done, in the earlier B4s the OBD port is not a true standard OBD spec port and only connects via SSM (Subaru Select Monitor?) which explains the trouble i've had in connecting to it and reading live data from it. This was why I was rather happy when i found this info (http://www.subarufor...rks-ssm-120972/) as i have a paid version of torque. Nickknack, if you do try one of these before me, let us know!

For reference, my engine/ecu is out of a 1999 Legacy RSK.
