SSM2 will be the best option, but most tools do not read this due to it being a proprietary (Spelling?) system. Not only that, your want for a wireless tool will severely restrict your list of what works.
The only one I have had reliable data out of is the Tactrix. It would even read my 99 RX (although the amount of data that is available on that model was rather limited).
MY00 Red RX, a nice daily that was sold off once the B4 became reliable...
MY02 Blue B4, aka 'The Project' - v8 JDM STi engine package and assorted other 'goodies' - Sold, then bought back for parts. Stripped and crushed.
MY03 Blue RX, the newer old daily, pretty well more B4 than RX now... In the process of being converted to the track toy... Watch this space!
MY02 Silver Wagon, H6 conversion, full blue/black leather and almost full black interior to go with it.
MY03 White/Silver H6 Outback, donor car for silver waghoon.
MY97 Silver RX, acquired to become track car, but plans changed. To be stripped and scrapped in time.

What kind of parameters can you change on the autobox if you don't mind me asking... coz I have an Auto My03 B4...I've used FreeSSM and a vag com Tactrix cable with a SERIAL port on an old PC/Windows. Can diagnose and reset CEL's, 3 adjustment parameters on engine, abt 20 on auto gearbox and lots of live info on engine and gearbox. Still learning how to use it properly. I also use a Greddy Touch Informeter permanently as a fuel computer but it has lots of other live parameters it can pickup such as IAT, fuel injector, throttle position, fuel trim etc etc Fitted to 2001 Liberty ADM wagon. Also worked on a My02 Outback H4 and 2002 RX all ADM

Engine adjustments ignition timing (retard degrees only)
Idle aircon on
idle aircon off
FreeSSM may get more adjustments/parameters with H6 pre MY04 and 2.5 MY 04 on
Greddy may also work with all b4's and GT as it was designed for cars from JDM
Greddy diagnostic codes and reset does not work on my99 to my03 2.5NA
Scangauge II does not work for above models but will work on ALL h6, also seems to work on Foz.
Does not work on GT

I bought the OBDKey, connected it to my car and it was able to connect to the ECU, just not to read any sensors
It may be in OBD2 mode, not SSM, which would explain the results, so I'm currently waiting to hear back from the developers how to switch modes.
But so far, not so good haha. I have tried it on an Audi Q7 to confirm it's not the unit.
Might try ecuexplorer to see if it is reading in SSM properly.

You'll need to connect to the OBDKey in order to change the mode, so it will require the device to be plugged in and a Bluetooth connection to it. That could be via a phone or a laptop, a laptop is probably easier.
On Windows there is a tiny piece of utility code that was emailed to me by the OBDKey developer, this is used to switch to SSM mode. The alternative is to use Telnet and issue the commands yourself via Hyperterm, puTTY or a similar program on an Android phone.
This involves sending a couple of AT commands to the OBDKey as follows:
- Using your terminal program, open the serial port to your OBDKey
- Once connected, type in ATZ and press enter
- Then type in ATSPC and press enter.
- Unplug, wait a sec or two, and re-plug your OBDKey back in.
You should get an “OK” message or something like that after each AT command.
A few usefull OBDKey AT Commands:
ATZ Will reset the OBDKey
ATSP0 Will put the OBDKey into Auto-Detect ELM Mode (Note, that's a zero at the end)
ATSPC Will put the OBDKey into SSM Mode

I stuck the adaptor into SSM mode last night, still no luck with torque so I will talk to the developer this week. Will also try it out with ecu explorer or rom raider or something.
