Zac I was in Malaysia couple of years ago and loved the food. Pretty much ate Roti Canai 24/7. Hotel had it on their breakfast buffet which helped!

The trick to eating in Malaysia though is to eat where the locals eat - the dodgier the better. Otherwise you just get overpriced (in comparison) western food.

I will agree with you there... I know some of the good Hawker centers to go to, so I'm pretty ok there... I can't wait for all the good stuff I can't get here... wonder what the wife is going to eat there though, she is a vegetarian and can't handle hot food... lol...

Haha... Roti Chanai... nice... with chicken curry? Lol! so you had that for breakfast?

Man there is a dish called "carrot cake"... but it is not a cake and does not contain carrots... lol... best breakfast ever... its tapioca flour cakes fried in soya sauce... :)

Yeah they served it with dipping curry, absolute best breakfast. And some flat rice noodle which was fried. Didn't try the carrot cake.

I don't usually eat breakfast, but when i do...

Yeah fair enough :D I would be keen to try some Malaysian food, what sort of things are top of the list in your opinion?

as Zac said Roti's & traditional Mee Goreng are delish. One of my favorites was a dish called Murtabak which is a pork mince omelette cooked inside a roti. They serve most things with a bowl of sambal & a bowl of soy sauce with chopped chilli marinating in it. Kway teow is great also & I think you would love it being a big chilli fan.

I have to agree with Zac. I'm still yet to find a decent Malaysian restaurant. It just doesn't compare here.

Reminds me of the Simpsons when Skinner was staring out his window going on about the soup they used to serve him in Nam when he was a POW.

Mother tried & tried to replicate the recipe but she just can't get the flavor right!!!!

So true and same for most countries I've been to.

I laughed something severe win GoT last night when they called Lorus a "sword swallower"

Many lols were to be had.

On the talk of Asia...
I quite liked Malaysia. Kuala Lumpur is quite clean and friendly and none of this begging shit. Penang wasn't too bad, but we mostly stayed in Georgetown, so guess I didn't experience quite the nastiness of it.
Thailand is pretty average, Bangkok is filthy. Nice place, but come dark, retreat to your hotel.

I like to think of it as borrowing someone's car and driving it better than them.

I've been to Singapore several times. It's so much more westernised than Malaysia.

I hear the East coast of Malaysia is so much nicer & cleaner than the west.
It is a good place to see some Posted Image'ed up shit. Like Thaipusam! Many lols to be had!

Those guys are mental!

Isn't the east coast of Malaysia where all the pirates are?

That right Josh and Josh, Very Indo, but small differences I guess... good luck if you can pick them... LOL!

WhiteJosh, you have good taste, Murtabak is sooo nice... I usually had the mince beef one... but so good... the place close to my work does it, and it does some quite close, but it is a very small piece, like a little less than the size of a piece of break, but they charge $9 for it I think... still, pretty good

Tim, sounds like you had good breakfasts... you can put on so much weight there quite easily...

JoshJosh, I don't know if there is a cure for vegetarianism, but I will see what I can do.. I think she will be having Rojak there a lot, which is a mixed mostly vege dish with chopped nuts and black soya sauce... will see if I can slip some chili in there and see how it goes... ;)

Many lols were to be had.

Thanks Sam... tossing up between KL and Penang at the moment... going to check it out on Expedia.com... since its all inclusive, so no mucking around... but we'll see...

I don't know... lets ask Morg... see where his friends hang out in Malaysia... ;)

Ahhhh... nice nice... see I am tempted to get the B4 grille... coz I like the B4 badge on the grille, but not sure if I should... as I always say... got so many other things I have to do first... and this is further down the list, but feel bad if I let it go and am not able to find a decent one when the time does come...

Decisions... I hate them...

Are wagon and sedan grilles interchangeable? I know it's not a perfect fit on the gen2

Hope so! I might be interested in your old grill if you want to offload it, I want one to maybe hack up a bit and stick some different mesh in, see how it looks.

I think Scotty still has a B4 Legacy 'L7' grill..

EDIT: Ignore that. It's a Rev A-C grill

Liberty wagon/sedan seem interchangeable. Outback's not? I'm not 100% on this.
