Forgot to reply to this. An app called tune in radio picks up all my local radio stations with ease, just over 3G. Also has radio from all over australia and the world, can sort by genre etc.
Thanks man, sounds awesome! It obviously uses your 3G data? Which sucks

Solved. Just had CM10.1 instead of his special ROM

Well they're separate in the Gen 2.
Check Nick's B4 for this in a Gen 3.
Chyea.. That was my point lol.
And, it'd be possible to put an ipad in a gen2, portrait; It'd be silly though.

Id say youd need to move the HVAC controls and most likely re route the air vents[/size]

I put my DAC in today, sound quality is much better, and I have a volume knob now. Highly recommended for anyone doing this. Will give it a week or so to see how my battery life fares with the new ROM and report back!

Nicksnack, link to DAC?
Keen to see your implementation of said setup!

This is the one I used, you can get them off of B&H for $50 shipped. You also need a OTG micro usb y-cable ($4 off ebay) and be running Timur's custom ROM which is linked earlier in the thread. At the moment I have just stuck the DAC on top of the brant keypad but after my exams I'll tidy it up and see if I can stick it under the centre console, with the volume knob sitting where the keypad was. I'll get a pic for you in an hour or so.

Might look into this. Its a bit more elegant than a hole cut in the trim piece to access the volume, Also going to look into a power inverter. After exams or at least till the hard one is done

Mine will hopefully be more elegant by the time it's finished

Yours is connected to an amp rather than a headunit isnt it
never mind
Im assuming your headunit has RCA inputs or am i as bad as i think i am at car audio?

Nope
I could probably run it straight into the amp with the RCAs, but I was told when first researching this that the output voltage of most tablets/phones from the 3.5mm jack (what I originally used) is too weak to go straight into an amp. I'm not sure if the DAC boosts the signal but I've got the headunit there now so I may as well use it.

I see.
I find the nexus audio to be pretty average. Its ok, but when i plug my phone in it sounds much better

Nice work Nick. Seems like good value for a DAC!
I would hide it though (like in the glovebox), i like to listen to my stereo as opposed to seeing it - but that's just me. Hide the box, extend some wires out for the volume pot and mount it somewhere easily accessible.
