This is something that scares me come this election, so many people only seem to care about a freaking internet connection.

i agree, but i suppose given the age we are in its a hot topic for alot of people (seems alot of people want to be able to download their porn faster! or have less lag on Call of Duty). majority of people i talk to only seem to care about the NBN, i will agree it is something i care about, but its not at the top of my list.

It would be nice to have more options than Telstra, but meh. I'd rather have more job security!

Hi,

The NBN is not fully funded, not even close, so voting based on that wouldn't be something I'd entertain.

They haven't even fully funded the school reform program.

Cheers,

Nik

NBN cables got put into my street last week.

We currently have very poor internet (when we moved in, in 2008 we were able to steal some copper from neighbour friends down the street otherwise we would've had to get dial up)!

While it's not a huge deal in the big scheme of things, it will nice to be able to turn on the computer and not have to wonder if it will work today...

hi nik

the problem i think, is alot of voters arent, or rather dont educate themselves on these finer points of policies, all they are about is what they are saying about the NBN, and when they are going to get it, and what each side is offering in terms of which system/method are going to use, so they dont really get the idea that its not fully funded.

correct me if im wrong

Either that, or people only care about what they see on TV without knowing the finer points like you stated.

Hi Mark,

You are correct, the only difference at this stage is that Liberal has fully costed it.

Cheers,

Nik

He doesn't deserve to vote.

He is from China and on a PR so doesn't have citizenship, and doesn't have to vote... but still... geez...

this is true. i would say the vast majority of people are "brainwashed" when it comes to politics. by this i mean they believe everything that gets fed to them by the media (TV newspaper etc etc)

and of course, no media outlet is ever completely unbias, as much as they claim to be i will never for a second believe it. they all have their own agenda or misconstrue the truth or story to their own opinion, belief or whatever.

therefore people are just believing whatever is told to them and not researching the finer points or making an effort to understand all this, which overall leads in my opinion to a large number of uneducated voters who are voting purely on lies and misconceptions.

That's why this thread is important.

We have lots of younger people on here, and I see different names popping up in this thread.

Thoughts  on Tony's 'paid parental scheme'? Is it fully funded Nik?

I personally think Tony might have forked this one up a bit...$150k cap is TOO generous IMHO.

Hi,

Yes, it is fully funded. By us.

Someone doing a job with the value of $149,000 dollars a year, is worth $149,000 dollars a year.

Generally they will be spending and turning over a lot more money into the economy than someone on $37,000 a year.

This is Australia. We're not communists.

Cheers,

Nik

But surely someone who is on 150k can afford to take time off unpaid.....they should have more $$$ saved than someone on 37k.

SOLD Legacy GTB

But they also pay more tax, so shouldn't they also be looked after?

I actually agree with what Nik is saying :D

This one is for Nik... You are going to love what they say in this one mate.

I just love that prior to the leadership spill the inner west wasn't on the shorter term roll out plan for the nbn... As soon as albanese returns to the spotlight he fast tracks it. Must be worried he is going to lose his seat.
