Hi,
Number is complete bullshit, ripped out of someone's arse.
Ignore it, and carry on.
I love the electorate that's been sent to. What a dick.
Cheers,
Nik

Haha, Nice links Nik.
You would think Rudd would do his home work before making such a stupid claim, either that or he was just hoping that the masses would just believe whatever he says without doing any of their own research, even if that involves creating his own 'truths'.

Public service cuts
Abbott: 'So let's not please say that I'm somehow Mr Cut, cut, cut because I want to be Mr Build,build, build so we have more jobs, jobs, jobs.'
Rudd: 'Mr Abbott seems to be suff ering from just a little bit of amnesia. When he was Health Minister he cut $1 billion from the public hospitals budget of Australia. That affects every hospital in the country.'
The banks
Rudd: 'So in other words, what happened was the banks came to government as the ultimate insurer and said "Would I do that?" It's a scary thing signing off those kind of guarantees.'
Abbott: 'let's not try to justify a tax grab now with reference to the global financial crisis four and a half years ago.'
Immigration and detention
Rudd: 'The foundation of the international protection of asylum seekers is the convention and no government of which I'm Prime Minister is ever going to withdraw from the refugees convention. It's an absolute fundamental.'
Abbott: 'This is a tough problem, it is a tough problem, but tough governments can deal with it and a tough government did deal with it.
Environment
Abbott: 'I regard myself as a conservationist. As a teenager I was a bushwalker.'
Rudd: 'You can't walk away from a price on carbon. The rest of the world including China is moving in that direction as well.'
Marriage equality
Rudd: 'My view and a position I took some time ago is to properly reflect what I think is the dignity belonging to all people irrespective of their sexuality Australia should move towards laws for the secular State which support marriage equality.
Abbott: 'All I can do is candidly and honestly tell people what my view is. I support the traditional definition of marriage as between a man and a woman. I know that others dispute this, because I have lots of arguments inside my own family on this subject now.

Just some of the more important topics for people recently. Thought this might save people the daunting task of watching the whole debate.

Yerp.
Thanks for those points too Nikko! good stuff.
For me personally, Marriage equality and Refugees are of little importance in comparison to getting the economy right. Don't take that as me saying that they are 'unimportant' I just think the amount of focus they are receiving in comparison to what I would consider bigger issues such as the state of the economy and cleaner energy/other looking after the environment things, is probably a bit over the top.

Hi,
I support same sex partnerships recognised by law. Which is pretty much what Tony is proposing.
I do not support them being called marriage. I don't have anything against all the entitlements/benefits of marriage being applied to a 'union' or something of similar word - but I do not believe, nor understand why, it should need to be called marriage.
One thing that is going to be very hard, in this day in age, is no matter what they do - people will take advantage and scam the system on it.
Cheers,
Nik

Hi again, Josh,
You might find this as interesting as I did. As you know from me starting this thread, I get infuriated with all the fluff. I know I'm not alone;

To me, I don't even give any farks what so ever for marriage between straight people, none at all, as far as I am concerned it means nothing ( I accept that I am in the minority here). So I don't really care what they call it! though it does seem odd that they want to be recognised under a religious ideal that doesn't recognise their right to even be a couple.

Hi,
Hang on, doesn't Tony Abbott hate women though?
That scheme is fully funded too, people. Don't believe otherwise, it was in the black sheet.

Nik

And just quietly, while they bang on about $150K being too high a threshold, because rich people don't deserve it - they fail to mention that the money is coming from the 3000 richest companies in the country.....
....conveniently left that out, Kevin.

This I have always liked as a policy, they've had it drafted in various forms over the last seven years;

I can get behind that. Especially for LTU's

Hi again,
Just so this isn't completely one sided from me;
http://www.smh.com.a...0826-2sm4q.html
Though, I struggle to find a real point in that article. And, I do genuinely believe they are worried about releasing their cost cutting measures too early, because the first plan they put forward... Labor stole within three days and claimed it their success! I know it's a bit sandbox.
Cheers,
Nik

Also states that all there stuff is now more than fully costed
''more than fully fund its overall package of policy commitments by announcing more than sufficient savings measures to pay for them''.
