Hi,

So. They are raising the tax on cigarettes, in a move to stop people from smoking, and they are being applauded for this amazing - health conscious move. What a great thing to stop people smoking, and we get $5.2B so we can have some nice things! What a flawless plan.

Riddle me this. If it works, and people stop smoking, how are they going to get their $5.2 billion? Why is nobody asking that question? It makes it pretty damn obvious, that they know the elasticity of tobacco and are more than willing to suckle from the tit.

Same goes with FBT reform, in a way. So, if people just stop leasing - where is this extra money coming from?

This is about as well thought out as the MRRT.

Cheers,

Nik

hi nik,

i agree with this completely.

firstly the cigarettes, yes it is a great health conscious move, and it will potentially force alot of people to consider if not actually quit smoking purely because they can no longer afford it. but like you say, if this happens, and people quit smoking, obviously we are going to have a loss of revenue from this lovely new tax hike, so where does the money come from then? people are too busy looking at the side of "oh people are going to quit smoking, this is great!"

the FBT- me and my father were talking about this just the other night. we currently have an ailing car industry that is going backwards faster than god knows what, and they make that move? Ford are closing down, Holden probably arent far behind and are more than likely surviving on Government handouts, and then they make this move which has put numerous people out of work, and will certainly make alot of people rethink their next moves in terms of cars. leasing in my opinion was an excellent option for both employers and employees, and had great benefits to everyone, meant the sale of new cars, kept people employed to run the leases, to service the cars, i could go on. but get rid of that, the benefits of all this are gone and its now costing jobs.

two  very poor decisions from the current government i think, the sooner this election is called the better.

Hi,

I think the longer he pushes it out, the better. In the sense that the initial flurry of excitement will be gone, hell, it almost is - and people can realise that he hasn't changed at all.

Scrapping a 27 year old policy without consulting anyone else... a lot of his own members didn't know about it when questioned. Ha. Typical Kevin.

The way I see it, you should never just look at the head of the snake in politics - because you're voting for the party. But in this case, I truly believe this is Liberal Vs Kevin

Cheers,

Nik

Hi, You have also forgotten Toyota - who build the Camry and Aurion models in Australia.
Toyota had recently stated that it would like to continue manufacturing in Australia, however like Holden, a large portion of those cars that they sell locally are to fleets/leasing/government departments.

Not a good move.

I agree wholeheartedly. Krudd hasn't changed a bit. He is essentially just a massive egotist, that stewed for a few years.

This crazy 'policy on the run' crap he comes up with does my nut in...there was I time I believed he was smarter than that, but after this many examples, enough is enough.

Hi,

Bundle on TOP of that, the reasoning behind it was financial?! If people don't do it anymore, at all, then you've done nothing but go backwards! You can take away an incentive, fine, but don't tell us that people are going to continue the same behaviours if the incentive is no longer there!

It's like a big boobed girl getting a breast reduction and expecting the same amount of free drinks.

i forgot about toyota, thanks josh.

the way i see it, getting rid of FBT is really the government trying to kill the car industry.

Nik i know what you mean by dont judge a snake by the head, but at the moment its hard not to given what rudd is doing, and to me I havent seen liberal give any solid policies on what they plan? just go against everything labor says more or less

Hi,

Dude I've been posting Liberal policy stances throughout this thread. One thing Kevin747 does extremely well, is get face time with the media, and drown out anything of substance.

Also, I'm agreeing with you. If you check what I wrote, I'm saying Kevin speaks for Kevin - not for Labor. But he is more Labor than most Labor members! So I guess that says something.

Cheers,

Nik

Hi,

Hahaha. I didn't even think that one was worth mentioning. But yes, what an awesome idea. I wonder what Shazbang thinks of the 'idea'.

The problem is, he has a thought bubble, then just bloody does it. Without any consultation.

Cheers,

Nik

Words can not describe the pissed offedness that comes with such an idea. Tried to justify it by saying that everyone has saved $5k a year since when the interest rates have dropped. Coolstorybro. Cost of living has skyrocketed up.

I always thought my very very wog uncle was a proper fcuking weirdo for stashing bundles of cash under his mattress rather than depositing it into the bank, for the fear of giving the banks any of his money.

I am now starting to think along these lines. If only my current job paid in cash...

Hi,

At least this thread is going to highlight to even just a few people, that might not have noticed/cared, what is actually happening.

Stop the erosion of Australia.

Cheers,

Nik

Mission accomplished..

I'm not into politics (It's for Canberrans that are bored with smoking weed and masturbating to bondage porn) but this shit has to stop.

For me it's broken down into an easier way to understand rather than have it jammed down my throat via media.

As soon as she hands it to you, slowly take of your pants, then, while staring her straight in the eyes rub it against the tip of you penis, while continuing your painfully intense gaze whisper to her;

"My eye is watering, this might be a bit hot"

I should just convert to single, right?

Hi Adam,

As is obvious, I am a Liberal supporter. But one thing I will say to you, is that the only 'change of mind' Tony Abbott has had so far, has been born from other Liberal members saying "C'mon Tony, really? We're not doing that mate" - and he LISTENED to them. I just cannot ever see Kevin Rudd admitting he's wrong. He's the James Hird of the political arena.

Cheers,

Nik
