So its time for some new tyres for the scooby and I'm at a bit of a loss as to what to get.

I probably do 1200 to 1400km per month, of which 1/3 is around town, and 2/3 is on the open road.

No track work, but I do appreciate grip, wet and dry.

Done the rounds of the local tyre places yesterday and as always got conflicting advice so hoping you guys can tell me if these tyres are good, great or crap.

(Prices are each, fitted and balanced, disposed - 205-55-16)

Bridgestone RE002 $200

Bridgestone MY02 $145

Pirelli P1 $150

Kuhmo KH18 $129

Yokohama Blue Earth $153

I know they're the most expensive you can't really go wrong with the RE002's.

Dad has P1's on his WRX and has had no issues. I've heard people bag them - can't remember why...

+2 RE002's. Great tyres.

The Kuhmo's are pretty decent for the price.

Hi,

Second KU31's for value and experience. But yeah, P1's are good too!

Cheers,

Nik

"purchased in August 2012. was on car at 125K  as per receipt and removed at 135K."

95% tread and done 10,000km? so these should be good for another 190,000km...

Maths & accuracy obviously isn't this guy's strong point.

You can find decent rim & tyre combos though and save yourself a few squids.

Kumho KU31's or KU39's

Use this http://http://www.st...getyres.com.au/ and http://www.tempetyres.com.au/ as your pricing guides.

Bob Jane were asking 300ea for KU39's but after jumping on St George tyres I was able to get Bob Jane to match pricing and get them 170ea (fitted etc.)

Wow!

on Tempe Tyres for your tyre profile.. KU31's are 110ea! and KU39's are 140ea!

You can't really beat the Grey Market game when it comes to tyres. One time the dude at BJ actually told me to just go to Tempe Tyres because they couldn't beat the price on the Kumho's.

Just be sure to keep a keen eye out for old tyres. Make sure you ask if they can tell you the date of manufacture when you get a quote.

Great info here:

Good link Ads, and a good topic. I'll be in the market for new tyres soon. Was really hoping to get a set of Bridgestones, but I may look into other cheaper bang-for-buck options.

Wanting to buy/looking for: single genuine STi rim, genuine STi front lip, Corazon or Zero/Sports grille and another OEM grille

Can you hook a brother up? Please contact me now. I have cash ready.

KU31s best bang for your buck.

I can't comment from experience but these seem to be quite popular from what I've seen from other members on this forum.

I was thinking of getting the MY02's until I settled for a set of 2nd hand Yokohamas.

If the KU31's are that cheap, I'd go for them if I was in your situation, based on word of mouth.

Good luck mate!

Gotta love a consensus! lol

Thanks for adding KU31's into the mix, think I might as well toss a coin. :)

On a more sensible note, I feel an urge for the RE002's, but my common sense is saying hey with you usage the MY02's or KU31's (depending on their price).

If you go the used option for tyres make sure to check the manufacture date.
