Not much action on this thread for a while so not sure If this will get me anywhere but I'll give it a go.

Do brand new tyres actually 'settle down' after a while like the tyre shop people tell you they will?

I got a new set put on a couple days ago... I've done about 500km so they're very new.

They feel very floaty. Kind of an unsafe feeling when cornering. Not ridiculous rally style cornering either.... just sensible driving. On a straight road they seem fine so far.

(I should have gone with the same brand as last time but thought I'd try something different)

Thanks :)

Pretty sure tyres have a kind of silicon coating so they don't go bad in storage.

Think it can take up go about 1000km to wear off..

I like to think of it as borrowing someone's car and driving it better than them.

Could be floaty if tyre pressures are low.

What size are they?

Yeah I thought about pressure, that's all good though. Size 215/45/17. I'll give them a bit longer and see how they feel :-)

floaty as in sliding on the road? or rears kicking out?

I run my pressure at about 34 and they're half decent around a bend going 40.

sounds like pressures. be aware that there is a difference between COLD and HOT pressures when you are checking. if you put in 36PSI cold it will end up being around 38-40PSI when the tyres are HOT (driven on >5min)

waaay less than that, it is around 10-20km.

In winter tyres dont get hot. So I run 38/37 psi front/rear. In summer I drop it back to about 36/35. This is a liberty b4 with 215/45/17 tyres

Mig, what are the recommended specs on the tyre placard of the B4?

I've looked online to no avail as I'm running the BBS on my Heritage so 215/45/17...

Could you share both the loaded with passenger and with the drive specs please?

Placard/Manufacturer recommended pressures for the B4 is 33 front 32 rear.. too low imo... factory pressures are always for comfort...so us enthusiasts always pump a few more psi for more responsive handling:)

Lol Will. I've done over 12000km on my new tyres.. the front still look new.. ill rotate the tyres probably this weekend.

I have 225/40/18 on my B4. The speedo is more accurate now compared to the stock 17s. I think it's about 100 on the speedo = 97 on the GPS or something

Yeah I found this on my gen 3.

225/40/18 - 100km/h = 100km/h
215/45/18 - 100km/h = 104km/h or abouts.

I like to think of it as borrowing someone's car and driving it better than them.
