I think Australia needs another rebuilding stage to get us back to where we were 8 or so years ago.  As much as I like seeing the european superstars playing A league, I hope it doesnt distract us from developing our own home grown talent.

Sig worthy.

Haha, lose two games to Brazil and France in friendly throw away competition - sack the coach that was everyone's hero two months ago!

Typical soccer!

Aren't brazil and froooonz up their with the best in the world?

I agree with you too Brett. But it's those stars that help jack up the supporters. I mean, when Del Piero came from Italy it was huge news in Italy. No one knew about the A-League. Ha ha.

They are Nik. France not as much as they used to be, but Brazil are up there with Germany and the Netherlands. Especially in this World Cup. We're gonna see Brazil taking it out for another few World Cups with the amount of young talent they've produced.

As much as they are "friendly" matches, they definitely arent "throw away" competitions.  They are very important in guaging how the national team stacks up against other countries.  Its precisely the time to find out if your coach is doing his job or not.  Finding out in cup qualifiers or worse still the actual world cup is too late.

Also just FYI losing 6-0 is like losing an AFL game by about 100 goals!  you'd be asking questions too.

Gary - I think France have an excellent squad right now.  I can see them going top 4 in the next world cup.

Sig worthy.

Yeah but eight months or whatever out, when the whole teams only touches each other at the same time every now and then.... pfft. May as well have stuck with the bloke.

I agree. I think they have finally got the players to make a significant difference and cause some upsets to some other big name teams. But my money is on Brazil this time round, and confidently for the next World Cup too.

I liked when France had Zidane.

The game needs more headbutts

Ha ha ha! I like your comment Morgs. But that's just it. Until now, ever since the Zidane days France haven't been as much of a powerful team as they used to be. I hope Portugal make it into the semi-finals though. I wake up and go to the local RSL club (where every Portuguese person in the area goes) to watch the game on a big screen. There have been that many of us that the police are there are the end of the game to keep everyone off the main road. Ha ha.

I'll try and find some videos when flares have been lit up and stuff. We've made it onto the news and the radio with our chants and stuff too.

France have a killer team at the moment! Was quite surprised to see Nasri's effort from outside the box kept out this morning to be honest.

I think we need some more experience in the Socceroos. Apart from the likes of Cahill, Bresciano and Lucas O'Neill, we're pretty young as a squad.

^^agreed. Young squads are good if they can be developed. Set a 4 year plan.

4 year plan for the players, and just get a different coach every six games?

Highlights of Australia's 3-0 victory of canada below. Although we scored after only 26 seconds (!), by all accounts the first half should probably have gone canada's way and our overall performance was less than extraordinary. In any case the win will be good for morale after the last two matches and hopefully we can find a coach soon and sort our shit out! Next match will be a friendly in november, possibly against England.

fork yeah.  A friendly against England would be good.  I remember the last one.  Rooney's first international cap.  Winning 2-1!!!  Nearly getting beaten up for being too loudly Australian in the local pub in my brother in-laws village.  hahaha  soooo good.

wow just watched that highlight clip.  Bresciano's effort that was given offside was amazing.  That cross to set up the assist, was pin point!

Who was Keeping?  Some solid efforts in the first half from the look of it.

Sig worthy.

Manchester United 1 - 1 Southampton

I mean seriously? What the hell is going on United...?

It's so damn frustrating.

And on top of that, Sydney FC was absolutely smashed by Brisbane Roar last night. 4-0. It's sorta getting me nervous for when I go and watch Sydney FC against Western Sydney Wanderers next week (free tickets) at Allianz Stadium.
