I've been on here for a while now but haven't posted a great deal, a few of you might also remember seeing my car at this years HVC. Thought I'd add another RS build to the forum, a few have popped up lately which is great to see! I'll give you a little background on the car(s) and how I got into them, without rambling on too much, feel free to skip it all if you want .
My name is Matt, I'm 21 years old and I live in a small town by the name of Wauchope, which is located about 20 mins West of Port Macquarie in the Mid North Coast. I've had an interest in cars from a young age, but when my interest in Subaru's started (Liberty in particular) was when I turned 16 and I learnt to drive in my dad's 91 GX. It was something I really enjoyed driving so after a little less than a year of learning in it (and saving from 1st year wages) I purchased myself a 90 model GX wagon.
A short time after, I got my Provisional license and started searching around for stuff to buy, al all P platers do! The first thing I did was get a 2 1/4" 'sports' exhaust fitted, next was a set of rex 16's that were being sold off Marty's white RS at the time. After hearing my dad mention a turbo version of the Liberty and then seeing Marty's in person, it made owning my own RS a goal to work towards in the future.
Next thing I did was purchase a set of lowered springs on KYB struts, and that was about all it got.
Skip a couple of years forward, by that time I had bought another GX which I owned for a short time, also found and fitted a replacement engine into my original car. I then found an RS wagon for sale which looked like a good example.
After a few conversations with the owner, I headed down to Bathurst with a mate and we had a look at the RS, took it for a spin, agreed on a price, and then it was an 8ish hour drive back home (via Mount Panorama of course!). It was a great drive back and the car ran great the whole time.
There were a few mods to the car when I bought it, which included a VF28 turbo, STi gearbox and diff, clutch, short shifter, Bilsteins and gold Rays Volk wheels in 16's. Over a couple of years I switched and upgraded various parts to get it to how I wanted it to be. At one stage it was RWD, which was great for teh skidz but as you'd expect I got over it and put it back to how it was made to be.
By January this year, the car still had the standard RS engine in it, which was around 275xxx km's young, and had dropped in compression noticeably. Hunter Valley Cruise it got a fair hammering and about a week after returning home it finally decided to pack it in. An EJ20H was purchased from a mate of mine at price I couldn't refuse and the task of switching everything over begun.
This is currently what the car stands at and a few random photos of it. I will get a few better ones once I clean up the engine bay and get my new plates.

All work so far has been completed by myself with the help from my dad and a couple of good mates. I owe a big thanks to them, always there to help swing the spanners, even when I've been in the mood to light the car on fire . It's not the straightest nor the fastest car, but its something I enjoy driving and working on, and can call my own.
And for anyone interested, here is what has become of my first wagon. Lifted 3" with 215/75/16 A/T tires. Plans are to eventually transfer the low range gearset from an L series into the GX box and lock (weld) a spare rear diff.
Edit: Photos have come out a little blurry sorry, not sure why.

The RS is very nice mate. The black on white color scheme never dates.
The only thing I dislike about the NSW cars is yellow number plates.
