Hi all, been reading these build threads for a while now, thought I'd start my own..
I was looking for a comfortable 4cyl weekend cruiser and decided a Legacy fitted the bill. I purchased her off a bloke who had lived in Japan for a year, and had brought it back to Brisbane as a personal import. She was stock standard with 85,000km on the clock.
The car was occasionally suffering from detonation and intermittently running in limp mode. I discovered the MAF was playing up, and after replacing she runs like a dream. Not really chasing killerwasps at this stage, and yet to find suitable open-source JDM mapping tables/definition files.
Brakes rotors had a fair bit of surface rust. A wire brush, sand paper, and calliper paint made a world of difference.
Always been a big fan of STI Enkei Spec-C alloys. Found a new set in Victoria, going for less than half of what Subaru are asking. Was impressed with their weight too.
Was keen to keep the comfort and damping dynamics of factory Blistein shocks, so opted for pink STI springs. I've found that this combination with the 20mm rear sway bar, makes for a slightly lower yet comfortable ride, with minimal body roll.
The ridiculously loud Blitz Nur Spec-R cannon was ditched for the much more subtle STI Genome diff back. Not typically a fan of cannon mufflers, though the Genome looks half decent, and is very quiet until WOT.
*Edit, have currently swapped this over for an even quieter 3" Stainless Syms muffler.
I replaced the stranded spoiler with a Revision C Blitzen spoiler. Seems to be an acquired taste.. I think it looks good.. reminds me of the original Gran Turismo on Playstation.
