Gemini panno!!
We are practically brothers Kongman.
Flogged the ring out of this for sixteen years. For more than 12 of those it ran a hotted up G180. Fork it could rev!!
Never ever let me down and did everything in it, from drag racing to hauling firewood.
Holy shit!
I flogged the absolute ring out of that TE Gemmy. It had cams, exhaust, ported carb, forged/balanced blueprinted cosworth internals. Match ported manifolds, manual secondary....went hard & handled great.
I had a wall behind the driver seat, black carpet & speakers. Sealed off the rear section nicely. I lived in that beast. It is so good being able to crash where you are at. I suppose that's part of the reason why I have never been done DUI. Just having that option to crash where you are at is awesome. Camping was great too. I had a tarp off the back. So comfortable.
The back had a fitted mattress & cushions, matte black roof and panels with glow in the dark stars on the roof.
Loved that car. It took everything that was thrown at it, roos and all, and never gave me a hard time.
You know exactly what I mean, don't you Jase.

Mate, I know EXACTLY what you mean.
Sounds like your was a little hotter than mine. Twin cam?
Mine was a G180 bottom end running a de-burred stock crank with fully grooved mains (to get 360deg rod oiling without cross drilling the crank).
The block was decked 0.020" and O ringed (no blown head gaskets for me!!), shot peened rods and flat top pistons sealed with moly rings. The whole thing was balanced with the flywheel and clutch.
Head was a big valve G161, CCed the chambers, fitted it with AR Ford Telstar valve springs and a Crow (mildish) cam that I could time with a modded cam sprocket. I welded extra aluminium to the intake so i could mount a 32/36 DGV Webber and port matched it to the head. Extractors and a 2" exhaust and two mufflers to keep it quiet. I even cut up some stock air filter housings and grafted them to a Cortina base so it looked stock.
I spent weeks each night after work building that engine and must have dummy assembled it a least 6 times. It would have to be the best engine I have ever built!
I also converted to a 5 speed, fitted VH Commodore seats and fitted a factory Air Con system that used a hybrid Toyota/Subaru (a sign of things to come?) idle up system as the idle went to poo with the A/C on.
The BEST camping rig ever. I too did the tarp off the tail gate!
I still remember bashing it down some 4WD track looking for firewood.
In the end the body gave up. I did fit a new rear floor and rear panel but the rust got hold again in the corners of the firewall and the body was riddled with stress fractures. The radiator support was cracked all over the place and the firewall was so bad one day a piece of it fell out.
If I had hit something with it, it would have exploded into a million pieces!
I really do miss having something than can be so badly abused and never fail.
I miss this one too.
Had this one 19 years. (Yes, I keep the good ones a long time)
Bought it 28 years ago!
The bloke I sold it to still has it and absolutely loves it.
I have first rights if he ever sells, and I think would be very tempted.......
If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?
