Well that sucks!

If they spotted it, I imagine it's an external leak so it's not too harmful. As long as you keep an eye on the oil level you should be ok :)

Old mate said its about 4/10 for severity. I will be going back in about a month so he can check it again and advise some more.

Have you had a similar problem with yours Morgs?

Old mate was really through and took the time to explain the work and show me exactly on the car what he was doing. I will be going back there for services.

Very simple answer Rob, I went back to sleep after I got off the phone.

You woke up in the afternoon

And I still say good morning. Care factor?

My cousin's name is Rachel.

Good morning all.

Got a call from Ben this morning with a few more things to be fixed. An extra $380 worth of repairs if I remember correctly. Sucks, but at least the car will be schmick when I get it back.

Like what?

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

Two front CV boots, whilst they're there, a seal in the axle (if I remember correctly) that tends to leak when replacing the CV boots, the other front wheel hub is advised to be replaced as they've both got play and two pulleys are making noise so instead of replacing the entire pulley setup which can cost in excess of $400, he is just replacing the bearings.

Also, my front right strut seems to be having issues so I've got to get in contact with the bloke that sold them to me. Ben assumes that there is a washer and possibly other small bits missing from the strut itself. <_<

I do want to send my car down to Ben so he can check it out to tell me all the things wrong with it, but during the weekdays, I just don't have the time, and I'm guessing the dude is crazy busy on the weekends :(

I've been fortunate enough to never have had anything leak in any of my Subarus!

Only ever had to cam cover gasket in the silver SP20. The Calais has a small weep but it's nothing serious.

I bought 2 new cam cover gaskets for the Forester for the 100,000km service. My mechanic handed them back to me and said, 'Go get your money back. Yours are fine'. So I did

He is. I'm pretty sure he is open only half day on Saturdays and is closed on Sundays.

I had to take yesterday and today off in order to do this so I know it's worth while. I told him to treat the car as if it was his own.

Fair enough Morgs. I have been reading up a bit and head gaskets can be an issue in our models.

This is awesome. You want to have someone like that working on your car. That's what I like about my mechanic. They take the time to explain things to me when I don't understand. They know who I am and know how I treat my cars. They even call me when they're working on other people's cars to iron out issues :P

When your head gasket is leaking internally is when you have major issues. You don't want your water and oil mixing! A small external leak is ok so long as you know about it and can monitor it incase it gets worse :)

Haha just talk to Ryan :P

In my experience, they're pretty much the same as any other [turbo] car. Keep it topped up with oil and water and you'll see many km.

How many km have you got on yours meow Hazwaz?

Yeah I was pretty damn impressed with it all. The waiting room was full of Subaru stuff, random parts, heaps of die cast car models, a couple of boxed gen 2 and gen 3 legacy model kits.

My current mechanic is getting the boot because he doesn't know jack. Said my oil leak was caused by myself changing the oil. He advised to top it up and it should be fine.  :/

I hate that.

They're just in it to make a quick buck here and there. That's why I'd rather drive the 20-30 minutes to ICHIban so I know my car is in good hands. I trust everything the boys tell me over there, and they're work is flawless. I know I'm not told to replace something unless it's significant, and even then, Ben solely recommends it. He doesn't assume and doesn't force it upon me.

I'm sure they won't complain about one day man. Without a car you are stuck. I'd definitely recommend it. At least for a service, get him to do a rundown of your car and give you a list of things he thinks you should fix/replace. Then you can slowly slowly get those things marked off.

That's what I've done and is why my car is taking two days to get it all schmick.

Talking about mechanics, having a good laugh at Facebook mechanics. Some guy has posted up a video of an obviously slipping clutch after he installed an CAI. And I'm amazed to see the amount of people saying it's the Afm causing the issue and a tune will fix it

I heard the helicopters going over last night.

Mining can be such a dangerous industry

I have been watching that.
