Hey guys,

Back from Ben's.

Good news, car is not going to explode. No pinging, was cold anyway, but he couldn't hear or feel anything not right with the engine. Said it drove really well.

Possible things to do would be rocker cover gaskets because oil leak, maybe full auto tranny oil flush because some changes were a bit hard, maybe look at sway bar links.

He rattled the exhaust a little and heard a bit of a clanking noise, so that could be exhaust hitting a head shield, which might make the "pinging" noise which I said was coming from the right passenger door side.

So all up, good check out my Ben, car is ok, no need for engine swap, just look at fixing up a few thing.

Thanks Ben, great bloke :)

Really, a rattling zorst!!? Hahahaha

Ha yeah, that could be the case, the exhaust is rattling at a certain RPM and hitting against the heat shield.

But nothing coming from the engine, no knocks, and not even a hint of pinging through the rev range, but then again, it was only 19 degrees

Thanks Haz

Yeah it is some good news. Plus, Ben doesn't charge as much as other places to get the rocker cover gaskets done.

First thing I'm going to do is, when they are open, go to an exhaust place and get them to fix up the exhaust so it stops rattling.

The Ben said I could probably use a wheel alignment, since I'm getting some inner feathering on the back tyres

Yeah, it isn't going to explode. Yet.

Seems weeping rocker cover gaskets are a kind of common thing in Subys

I think he said, both sides for my car would be $400, which I think is pretty good, seems how much work would be needed and all.

My rockers covers were $400NZD.
Not a major thing to be done, but oh my, it's soooo nice when they don't leak!

*Edit
that was when it was 1AUD to 1.26NZD. However I was earning NZDs at the time so it's all relevant some how

Don't know if it is worth me doing a DIY on it when I know nothing, but if someone knew what they were doing and could help, would be better. Knowing me, I'd do something wrong for sure and blow up an already volatile engine.

Yeah Haz, seems like it, so I'm going to check out an exhaust shop first and see if that fixes the rattle(pinging), and I will get the rocket covers done in time, since it isn't a bad leak, but still not good having that oil smell from the oil hitting the heatshields and burning up

I would assume the exhaust issue wouldn't be an expensive or hard fix.

Nah, exhaust should be relatively easy. Exhaust shop should just need to weld a hanger than broke off or something, we'll see.

Nobody is open today. It is like a holiday or something, lazy cubts.

Speaking of cubts, Hey Amsy
