You've reassured me that not going to university was a good move for me. Thanks Zac. :P

I got into Law and deferred, joined the Navy, did some cool shit and now will go to Uni and study what I WANT to study.

Will make me more happy and result in a more fulfilling job.

Got too many mates that studied right out of school and now don't want to work in the field they picked at 17....big surprise hey, that you might change your likes and dislikes between 17 and 21.

+1. Although I've never gone to university. I've got an unfinished Diploma in Architectural Technology and a Certificate III traineeship under my name. I also did my HSC. I'm in a pretty good place and don't regret not going to university, but I do regret not finishing my Diploma (I can always do so). I've got a few things I'd like to do at my age now... It's just a matter of picking one and going hard out for it.

Finished High School, went to Uni, Bachelor or Technology (Info & Comm systems). Means nothing, had to do almost every subject in uni, Accounting, Business Law. Psychology, Physics, and a few other subjects not actually to do with coding or computers.

Got out of uni, got a job as a Software Test Engineer and been doing that ever since. Love breaking shite and making developers cry

I don't think university is bad thing at all, but it certainly isn't the be all and end all. All through my high school years they made you think that if you don't get into university, you're pretty much scum and will be a labourer for the rest of your life. Most of the billionaires nowadays failed in college and university.

What if birds aren't singing?

They're just screaming because they're afraid of heights...

I don't think university is bad thing at all, but it certainly isn't the be all and end all.

It is essential if you want to go into a professional field, but unforunately a lot of non traditional degrees are a waste of money, or are only useful with a masters or phd, or simply there is only enough jobs for 5% of graduates.

EG. Engineering, Medicine, Law and Teaching are always going to be jobs, so you can feel safe doing one of those degrees, but it will also require you to be good at your job and studies. I've met many no-hopers who struggled through a degree and now work in a different field due to just being shite.

Now all these other bullshit degrees mean nothing and are just a way for the Uni's to make money. For instance my partner had to do Bachelor of Psychology, which by itself is fairly useless unless you get into a base level social work job, she then needed to do an Honours year, and then a Masters degree to practice.

So in summary, going to Uni for the sake of going to Uni is a waste of time, identifying a career path and ensuring you have what it takes to get there and it can offer you what you want, and THEN going to Uni is win.

They would just fly to the ground like they can.

I highly recommend getting an arts degree if you want to do something with your life.

Exactly right man. You're 100% right on that one.

That hard part is identifying what you want to focus on for the rest of your life at such an early age. Too many people make that decision incorrectly.

haha is that tongue in cheek?

I was thinking of doing Arts degree in History and English ( and Masters in Teaching) so I can teach after my young chapter of life is over.
