Yeah, but you can't blame the reaction, car design is either 'meh' or 'urgh' these days.

To be honest it wasn't.

 

But the mood towards car design today is similar to modern consumer moods towards everything, it takes a lot for the informed consumer to go 'wow!' 

 

edit: I'll concede it's not 'these days' and is actually just the nature of design eternal.

Yeah, I guess if you look at the marketing side of it, you could design a product/car that looks drastically different to your competitor and risk polarising your customers, or you could design a product/car that looks a lot like your competitors, but looks just a little bit better.

Interesting thing here is that the African planes going down is more common than one would think, this is not a 'big week' by all accounts, but hey - IT'S WHAT THE NEWS IS REPORTING
