Shannons are excellent.

Hmm WillC, I'd spend a few hours on the phone to Allianz, AAMI, etc and get some quotes then go back to GIO and tell them to f**k off or lower the premium. They should lower it a bit when presented with competing quotes.

Or switch to another insurer. I'm 23, car is financed, I've had multitude of speeding tickets and I'm only paying $1000/yr, and the agreed value I believe is $30k.

Also depending on what bank you are with, some banks have partnerships with Insurers, my Allianz is through Heritage Bank and saves me $200/yr.

Just avoid Swann, Youi and Just Car, they are not as comprehensive and will default on your larger claims.

Yea I think GIO are just milking me the  :fork: ers. I have only ever made 1 claim in my entire driving life.

I have my B4 with NRMA now, was about $850. I paid about $900 with AAMI for the first few years, then they randomly doubled it for no apparent reason. Instead of getting cheaper when I turned 25, it went up. gtfo.

Comparing insurance across a national forum is ridiculous. Sorry. But it is.

I found a loophole years ago, that if you insure it to another 'safer' address you can still make a claim from another city, but you have to prove your car is not regularly there etc.

Eg. My car is insured to my parents rural property in QLD, and therefore I kept my licence registered to that address. My car is actually garaged in Surry Hills, fender bender central. I went over this multiple times with mates in Insurance to ensure I wouldn't be forked over by the Insurer if someone hits my car, and they assured me it's legit.

BUT some insurers like the cheaper Youi, Swann and Just Car will not pay out if your car is a certain distance from the garage address, unless you ring them up prior to driving somewhere and pay extra. Youi is especially rubbish because it is calculated on exact circumstances, and you can find yourself not covered during certain hours of the day, or days of the week.

True Nik, all of us have very unique circumstances so will have majorly different quotes, but it's good to hear reviews of different insurers, as their service doesn't differ much nationally.

PS. I think I want to visit your neck of the woods this year.

All for conversations about how claims are handled. Multiple claims with just car in nightmare locations. Every time has been silky.

Yeah, Just Car's main profit base is teens not fully diclosing their driving history, getting in a prang, and then Just Car don't have to pay out because they found out Muhammed isn't licenced to drive his WRX, or Billy Bob's Pulsar was defected.

But it's underwrtten by AAMI.
