Has anybody here attempted this at all

http://sl-i.net/FORU...hp?f=10&t=19979

I have a cluster with the standard green backlit lighting and have bought a cluster with the white writing, Red needle and orange ring from a wrecker. As per usual it wasnt as easy as plug and play and it has different plugs

So just wondering if anyway gave the rewiring ago themselves or has had somebody do it for them

I just finished putting one in my gen 2. Should be able to depin your current harness and repin it for the cluster assuming the cluster is from the right revision as your car. This thread should have more than enough information for you to do it. Unless you particularly want to be able to swap back to your current cluster id go the depin route

Sweet, looks like the A plug is the same, and I'll only need to re-pin the B and C? Doesn't look too bad of a job from Rev A-C to D-E.

Only thing is that the h6 clusters and the 4 cylinder clusters have different tacho calibration apparently so won't be accurate. So best bet would be get one like cams

Damn, that's a bit of a pain, here's a 040 cluster with illumination stalk, and C? plug for pretty cheap too. Think these have the red line that starts at 7k.

Its not so much the red line as what revs it shows. Like 2500 could actually be 3000. You should try and find a 85015AE090 but will be auto could easily just not wire in the PRNDL though.

Yeah, just thought that one was a bargain  :P

With the PRNDL tree, are the basically invisible not wired in? For the A-C non BFM clusters theres a fascia that can cover it.

Could you run through the tacho signal through some form of voltage modification Nick? Like if you wire up both clusters to see what the difference is and then suitably modify the signal?

Not sure as mines an auto. Just get an A-C fascia to cover it as the clusters are essentially the same :)

I dont see why not. Id imagine a resistance pot would be a good way to do it

If you go to this link Barb these are the exact two clusters that i have. http://sl-i.net/FORU...hp?f=31&t=23962

The one in my car is the basic one and the one i bought is the more complicated one

Two of the existing plugs fit and the third one doesnt (i have the male plug that does fit)

So my car is JDM A-C and the new one is JDM D??

Also my car is manual and the new cluster is Auto but as you said above i just wouldnt plug those ones in

Is their anyway i can pull the full pins out of these plugs. As you can see some are quite short and will be hard splicing them to the existing wires in car. Also would make it a hell of a lot easier with already existing cluster wires

Having a slight problem with a couple of plugs

So im going from A~C Type, Non-BFM: JDM A-C to D Type JDM BFM

In A plug their is A9 Blue-Red Battery Constant

Then in C plug their is C1 Blue-Red Battery Constant

But i only have one Blue Red cable that originally came out of my existing C1 plug so where do i source the second one from? Tap it off the existing cable?

Also if you look at A-C type  Non BFM diagram http://sl-i.net/FORU...316fb51b0139077 their is 2 Black and white cables from C plug

The new cluster on requires one so where does the second one go?

Dont worry about matching colours. Just match functions and if needs be you can tap power from other wires. Id ignore on of those black-white alternator wires. Probably a mistake that theres 2
