I was wondering how hard it would be to wire and set up a traction control button on my '01 Outback base model. It doesn't have one and I want to have just a little more fun off road. Anything would be good, whether it is telling me I can't actually do it or how hard it is.

Cheers

Hmm. Depends how it works. Id guess at least the hubs and maybe some kind of computer or ECU would need to be swapped

Would need a control module and sensors, ie yaw, steering angle & g force.

It may also work with the abs system ??

Would it help you off road ???

You don't really want normal traction control off road.

A proper vdc maybe worth it

I've seen some vids on yt it looks pretty good

Traction control = less / smaller skids yo.

Traction control is designed to minimise your fun in slippery conditions, not enhance it.

Thanks Duncan,

Like I said above,

TC = less skids.

So just to get this straight, you have VDC and you want to disable it? Or you don't have VDC and you are thinking about installing it.

Yeah i'm confused.

Is the OP under the impression his car HAS traction control and wants a way to turn it off? Or, it DOESN'T have TC and he wants to install it?

Maybe he wants to install it so he can turn it off?

@OP

If you don't have it, as suggested above, it would be a mammoth task to install. Apart from the missing control modules, I can see networking issues in making it all work together.

My suggestion would be buy a car with it factory fitted.

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?
