Ok so I was reading in the current Beaurepaires catalog and they have Goodyear Eagle F1's (directional) for $169 in a 225/45/R17 profile.

I have these WRX rims (8th down) and want to put 225/45/R17's on them. I have done my research and they shouldn't scrub and if they do, Josh (sbv) has a guard roller.

Oem tires on these are 215's AFAIK.

I called up Bob Jane and they have a $100 cash back deal on Bridgestone RE002's with each tire costing $165 (after cashback).

My only other option for tires are KU31's based on their reputation on this forum among users.

I kind of already know what I want to go for (RE002's ;)) but thought I'd post up this in case anybody has any other suggestions.

Car is NA and will be used as a daily but nontheless I want good rubber on the road.

If all goes well, I can get them fitted this Thursday!

It goes against my initital plan to fix up the panel damage on my car and leave the wheels/tires to the very end but they tempt me every day! :P

Thanks!

Note: I'm running RSR springs on Bilsteins, so will scrubbing potentially be an issue?

Dunlop SP Sport MAXX!

They are on the same level as the RE002's I had last year and a step above KU31's  :)

You should have no issues with a 225 45.

*Tyre

I have a set of Sumitomo HTRZII's in a 215/45-17 waiting to go on Wifey's RX. I have used Sumitomo's before, seem good value for a Japenese made tyre.

I should have noted, my budget is sub $200ea.

KU31's work out to be $190ea.

I'm wanting to jump on the RE002's after the $100 cashback was mentioned.

Thanks Cam =)

Beaurepaires have 25% off Dunlop SP Sport MAXX's but my desired profile wasn't listed. I could give them a call Monday..

Yes,

Tire = US
Tyre = AUS

eh :P

I think I'd go for the Bridgestone's at that price in all honesty man.

The RE002 shit all over KU31's. Is that $165 each before the cash back?

The Eagle F1 Directional 5's are on a buy 3 get the 4th free deal at the moment.

No, cost is adjusted at the time of sale I was told.

Where are the Eagle F1's selling with that deal atm?

I haven't heard much about the Eagle F1's and they're directional, whereas the RE002's are asymmetrical.

I know it's a bit of a varied topic with so many individual opinions and experience

Don't bother with Kumho's if you are not poor. RE002 is what I'd go for as many have mentioned....

Oh right.
In the 215/45r17 size for me they worked out just over 100 bucks each.

Total was between 400-500 bucks
Bought direct from kumho though

Sorry if I seemed like I was having a go at you :(

I wasn't and was only speaking from my own experience...

They are good for what they cost - much better than any other cheap stuff out there that people put on these days....

Nope sorry should have quoted it, i was referring to the 190 dollar price tag of the 225's

Yeah they are a cheapish tyre but they are good for high km's and grip ok.

Rubber and wheels going on on Thursday.

RE002's; as Gary said, with a price like that, can't go wrong.

Cheers for the input everyone.

I wouldn't even think about it. I've always had a soft spot for Bridgestone and I've never been let down. That price is pretty schmick man.
