Private health insurance FTW.
I've been to the dentist three times since I came back to Australia, and the two last times since joining private health insurance I haven't paid a cent. I was under my parent's health insurance the first time so technically they didn't pay a cent.
Private health insurance is worth it if you use it.

Yeah I have private health insurance.

Ah ok, fair enough. For my first visit I didn't have what you would call major surgery, but I did break three quarters of my tooth and now I've got a fake tooth with two screws (my nerve survived the trauma and is still going strong almost eight years later). I just get a check up and clean every six months now. I never used to visit the dentist unless I needed to which is worrying... Fortunately my teeth are naturally very straight.
I wanted to get my teeth whitened but he recommended another way that would save me $400+ (plus two separate visits).

My dentist is still forken exxy after private health, and apparently my private health pays the most they've seen.
Go to Adl or Brisbane and I don't pay anything.

Yeah, you might have a no gaps dentist, or a cheaper dentist than me. There's a place at Bondi I can go for no gap, but fuck that, I like my dentist, she's nice.

I've done the same thing. This dentist got me in two days before New Year's to fix the broken tooth I had; he was lucky to be in the surgery and was just watering his plants, ha ha. I've gone there ever since. Has the mind of an elephant and is really well spoken. He is of Asian decent. Top bloke.
I'm sure it's cheaper as well because he is listed as a dentist on the ahm website/doctor's list.
