Well, i'm off to go fix one of my speakers, it would seem I filled up at a different petrol bowser once, and has degraded the sound quality over time.

As soon as she hands it to you, slowly take of your pants, then, while staring her straight in the eyes rub it against the tip of you penis, while continuing your painfully intense gaze whisper to her;

"My eye is watering, this might be a bit hot"

I should just convert to single, right?

I hope you've learned your lesson now Ash. You can't use E10 on any car.

I suspect the radiator was the issue Gaz. Modern engines, especially ones with marginal head gaskets, can't cop being cooked. I suspect that you may have even lost enough coolant that the temp sender unit was no longer tracking coolant temp, but more like air temp as the coolant level had drop below the sensor. When this occurs it is not uncommon for the sender to produce a signal that equals far less than the actual engine temp. In effect the temp gauge starts to fall even though engine temp is rising.

Mine has had a tune, one that I know little about as it was tuned when I bought it, but the Subaru workshop that looked after the car indicated that a tune works well as it reduces the H6's natural tendency to detonate and will produce a little more power while using less fuel. Detonation kills engines, and places head gaskets under more stress.

I think you are correct in your decision to go for a dyno tune, as a good tuner can do a better job than open source IMO.

Thanks for mentioning all the facts, Jase. It's good to know things like this and possible reasoning behind unfortunate events. Unfortunately it did cost me $4,000 but I am happy with the result so far and have found myself a very knowledgeable and mechanically-minded person to help with any issues I do get; he has gone above and beyond for me and now has even more work lined up.

The only option for me is the dyno tune. People may have their for or against opinions but at the end of the day I have changed mine on my car to only ever be done by a renowned and reputable dyno tuner. That's not to say that I have anything against Matt/KiDo Tuning as it was my opinion before I got to test one of his tunes out. Everyone knows what is best for themselves so if in doubt, don't do it I guess.

I'm just about to get the old engine delivered home to try and sell otherwise it's gonna go to scrap. There are a few components that are still in good nick.

Are you sure it's not the speaker fluid Ash? I only source my speaker fluid from the most reputable person in the business/the cheapest option I find.

MY10 Forester.

USDM boys say it's under glove box.

So it has a VSS on the gearbox?

I would have thought they just use the ABS sensors and the EBCM sends the VSS data using ISO 11898-2 via one of the CANs to the ECM and IPC?

Well my understanding is that I am splicing into a multi-pin connector in the passenger footwell. This is just where the guru (Dave ae64.com) found the VSS. It's just for turn by turn navigation.

Niko,

To answer question and not clog that thread.

Evo 6, 8, 9 and 10 were the only ones officially imported by Mitsubishi Australia.
Rest were grey imports.

I like to think of it as borrowing someone's car and driving it better than them.

Cool that explains it.

I was looking at 2001 imported GT-A's recently.

Buy an 8.

I assume you don't have the wiring diagram Niko?

Nah but all good, will do it tomorrow. Only splicing those 2 wires in, the rest is plug and play.

What's the crap on your bumper Wob Wob?

Hey Jase and KongoDrums

I just spent the morning installing stereo, got to work at 0600 and only just finished the install.

Hooked it up and everything is working well. GPS comes up, radio is fine, and CD/DVD is sweet.

Jase I couldn't find the VSS wire, looked through USDM forums but that's useless because it's different for us, found pin-outs and wiring diagrams for SH Forest AUDM, but I think they are XT which is slightly different. Looking for B439 and B228 but couldn;t see them clearly. Am going to take a break for a week or 2 and come back to it with fresh eyes, atleast I wired in a cable that is sitting there ready to be spliced in when I find the VSS.

Also anyone know of any good splicing 'vamp' clips that you can buy in store? The ones I bought from Jaycar are forking useless, blunt as fork and difficult to use. I like the 3Ms but they are for end to end, not splicing. I will just have to buy online if Jaycar/Supercheap/Repco don't have anything worth while.
