Shazza, do you think that the government/reserve bank should be wondering why all us retailers are looking at the lowest January takings we've ever experienced because of the rises? Do you reckon maybe people are thinking if the levy goes through, which is the equivalent of a .25 (I could be wrong) rise on interest rates, it's time to save?

People are so fucking scarce in this, Australia's greatest tourist region, that it's slit your wrists type stuff.

Luckily I'm a niche market and I will never be flung into the tide of others, but I can definitely feel the down turn.

This is a worse turn than the 'GFC'.

At the end of the day, people are always going to whinge about the rates. Look at the condition of the Australian economy at the moment, it's the worst its been in decades. There is more people losing their properties, selling up their businesses, and going with fixed deposits, rather then riskier variable investments.

Now, compare that to around 40 years ago, where the economy was booming, small businesses were aplenty and the government wasn't in a metric fuck load of debt. Why? Rates were up around 17/18%

People have become irresponsible with money, unemployment rates are increasing etc etc. People are only now realizing that they have to cut back on pleasures, to keep their house/investments. Financial uneducation will be the detriment of so many people.

Ask someone to explain inflation, and most of them will look at you with a dumb stare, and be all like "What the fuck is that"

It all comes down to peoples stupidity, and their genuine lack of education around all things financial.
