When I first got msn messenger, i frequented the intrewebz tlak but it didnt take me long to realise it could become a bad habit. As a 12 year old i valued the skill of being able to construct a decent sentence and spllign it correklee.
The occasional abbreviation doesnt hurt ('u', 'y', 'r', etc) especially when sending quick emails around the office but for it to become standard language is ridiculous!

I use u y r occasionally through text messaging still, Does that make me a Grammmmma fail?

Yea i try to only use them when im in a rush/running out of character space, etc.

hahahah I love that fail image! I don't like the use of "ur" "y" 'U" that just shits me.. I will agree with a previous post, occasional slips of punctuation can be acceptable providing you don't have one long un-broken sentence.

I am unsure of how people even manage it when text messaging. My phone is set to dictionary, so it encourages people to spell correctly and use the entire word. I think using the internet has done me a lot of good with regards to spelling. I run spell check on all the forums I use, and now I find the dreaded red squiggly line is only there when I have clumsy fingers, not spelling mistakes. It also gives you a bit more confidence to use words that you may have heard, and used before, but don't know the actual spelling of. Thus increasing vocabulary, and generally making you a more interesting person to converse with. But what do I know? Let's see what's on TV.

At work we use redcoals - a sms service where i can text staff members from my outlook address. This is limited to ~140 characters so in most cases, i need to abbreviate.

And this is my phone. QWERTY keyboard means i can be lazy sometimes and just press 'u', or 'r' but mostly i type the whole thing out.

My E63 retrieves emails. I guess that is the same as syncing with Outlook? I can highly recommend the E63/E71. Had it for ~6 months now and had zero problems. $34/month includes $150 of everything + 70MB of interwebz download. On another note, i might be getting my front bar resprayed for freeeeee Washed the car on Sat and noticed that there is cracking paint. This is the 'repair' job from my crash 8 months ago!

I like them. Well my 'S series' at least is pretty nice. Bluetooth handsfree, etc. Mine came with a free '09 map upgrade worth $500 but havent installed it yet. Does the job anyway
