Today was my first day off work in about 2-weeks. What do I do ? Take the car for a drive of course!
It was one of those epic driving experiences I'm unlikely to forget anytime soon. Headlight deep in water spinning all fours. Maintained a steady rate no dramas, but skillionairerules its thrilling!
Found another gem of a track. Loose surface meant oversteer, understeer, derpasteer you name it! More off-roading planned for Saturday and then again on Sunday with some of the lads from SC. Happy times...
If you get an e-mail from a "Cockeye" located in "Herpaville", that may be me...

With your water crossings on the increase, it may be an idea to keep a close watch on your components, namely wheel bearings, driveshafts and the like, and budget for repair and replacement. Anything with a grease nipple, be sure to keep greased up with a grease gun.
When it comes to replacing the wheel bearings, I am most certainly sure you can replace them with sealed units. Although they're not 100% watertight (derp) but they'd be more resilient to the odd bush bash.
Do you use separate rims for bushbeshing? or just your roadies?
I'd also look into a set of steelie 16" foz wheels, with some mud terrain style tyres. Nankang Super Trippers are always an economical choice, and perform well offroad for Subarus.

Hey Alex, that's some food for thought RE: wheel bearings. Will look into that. So far I've added a SubaXtreme sump guard because I was alarmed at how much crap can find its way into the engine bay. The sump guard has greater coverage (about a third more) so has reduced unwanted contaminants in the engine bay. Also its a good bit of extra insurance when crawling over rocks etc...Shiv

I run my normal wheels and thankfully the AWD system has kept them progressing on the relatively easy tracks I tackle. But I have been on the look for some mud terrain tyres. They're very expensive. Seeking second hand on eBay with decent tread depth. 16's would be the go I reckon.

After I put new oil in yesterday, I did 8000rpm skids. That's the usual way to "bed in" the oil, isn't it?
