Does Plastidip last long?

There are a few things I wouldn't mind touching up on my car but I have a feeling normal paint would do me fine. I've never attempted to spray paint anything before. Is it a long term fix or will I have to maintain it all the time? Would it come off if pressure-hosed to clean my car?

Wanting to buy/looking for: single genuine STi rim, genuine STi front lip, Corazon or Zero/Sports grille and another OEM grille

Can you hook a brother up? Please contact me now. I have cash ready.

Ha ha, answered all my questions. The pieces I wanna do are pretty small. I'll get into detail when I start getting to that stage but thanks a lot for the link man.

Not too shabby!

You have a compressor, hey?

Any update on being able to put the springs in? :)

Yeah, well I'd be keen to go halves.

how much plasti-dip did you go through for just the rear diffuser thing? With ..2 coats or?

Um, the springs, asap basically.

Edit, cool I was in the middle of watching this video. at about 8:30 he's got the spray gun you posted

Not even one can... Probably 3/4 coats... Plastidip is sprayed different to paint... U need to spray it from a closer distance than normal paint...

I asked Tim @ www.getdipped.com.au and he said 4-5 aerosol cans (about 1.2-1.5L) would do my roof

6 x311gm cans is $134.20 http://www.plastidip...ti-dip-aero-x-6

Pre-thinned 1L is $77 http://www.plastidip...-dip-uv-1-litre

Pre-thinned 3.78L is $233 http://www.plastidip...uv-3.78-litre-4

But with the pre-thinned we need a gun so add $130

As for springs do you have work on the 22nd? other than that i would have 2 be on a weekend in May

Oh shit, I didn't realise that spray gun was electric! I assumed the electric cord was an air pipe. lol. that is awesome.

edit;

Hmmm so judging by the estimate for your roof, I'd need 5 or 6 cans to do the bonnet, roof and boot. Would you think? -taking into account the reduction in surface due to the rear windshield, but adding the bonnet surface.

What do you think is better, cans; or pre-thinned with the gun.

Can that gun also spray normal paint? (non plasti-dip)

And yeah the 22nd will be sweet, but only if im not chosen for Jury Service, which I am going in for this Thursday for the selection day.

@FR34KO

Don't spray your roof, bonnet and boot with the rattle cans. We did a mate of mines bonnet, roof and boot and it looked pretty horrible. It would be worth getting the electric spray gun. If you really want to use cans we only used 4 doing his car.

We heated them before we sprayed.

It's like spraying your whole car in gloss enamel from a can, it could look alright but it's not ideal.

Did you spray it properly? If you go to getdipped.com.au you will find they used cans to do their roofs

Its actually not the same...acrylic is different to Plastidip, essentially its a silicone based colour spray which in turn if sprayed correctly looks smooth

Plastidip actually needs to be sprayed wetter than ur normal acrylic... u achieve this by sprayin closer...

Sprayed it the exact same as I did with wheels which came out good. Nice and close.

Even with 5 coats you can still faintly see where the strokes have overlapped, it just looks too tacky.
