I think it would be the sensible thing to do mate, given the way you have described the condition to us it really sounds as though it would cost a bomb to get it back to something worth while, simply not worth it given what you could buy, just drive the pussy deflector pussy deflector pussy deflector pussy deflector until you have your open license and a little coin in the bank then buy something you want in good condition that doesn't require thousands spent on it to get it up to scratch :D

Win at life and everytime you go somewhere the bitches will be goin' moist...

you wouldnt have to part the whole thing out either, just some of the easy to access parts, headlights, front lip, spoiler etc and chuck them on ebay, a wrecker isnt going to pay much more if anything if the car has these things or not.... just a thought

Id say make that your last option. Probably wouldn't make too much out of it, I don't think!

do it! dont tell him the headgasket is blown and he will think he did it
and the knocking noise is just the pistons ramming the fuel into the spark plug for extra power

He knows about all the flaws. He is a qualified mechanic (masters, degrees, you name it he has it) has the papers to work on anything, from a mower to a Posted Image'ing plane.

He wants a new project. lol.

Sell it to him, then go and help him change the head gasket. If you can do a head gasket on a Subaru you should be able to do it on anything :P

I would have gone to the kitchen, collected a brown bag, dropped my dacks, pinched off a loaf in said bag, done up dacks, stickytaped bag, placed bag in envelope, and mailed it right to your face for being such a tool.

It's ok, sometimes when we herp, we also derp.

My dad lives in Townsville, i live in Charters towers. He cant take a week off to come down and help. (Nothing is open on a weekend in charters, so i would have to get the heads machined during the week, etc)

Your Dad has a masters?

Yeah, he is Posted Image'ing intelligent, just makes bad life choices.

Necro thread....

So i have written up a vague list of the liberty's problems. As nobody seams to want to buy it....

I have about $3000 from the 121's insurance, tax and saving.

The Liberty's Bad.
Carpet in rear worn away.
Paint is cracking and peeling.
Front bumper paint and plastic is damaged.
Head gasket.
Parcel shelf speaker covers
Misc Rattles
Fuel gauge not working
Gauge cluster, fuel and temp gauge needles broken
Front rotors warped
Needs full service
Coilpack, Plugs
Tyres are shit
Cruise control not working (suspect actuator)
Clutch needs greasing
Front needs camber (tyres wearing baddly on outside, probably my driving style)
Engine has never quite run right.

I have found a second hand import engine for $1500 shipped, has 60-90,000k's and has been bench tested.
I can do a engine swap out easy enough if i can get my hands on an engine crane, while im at it i can service it, fix the clutch and replace the plugs etc.
With the rest of the money i can probably fix up a few other little things from the list.

I have listed the car on ebay 4 times now and each time it has not received a single bid (plenty of watchers), i have had people call and ask about it but nobody follows it up. One guy said he would buy it, then never showed up.

Fix it up, or keep trying to sell it?
Dad keeps telling me to fix it, but he doesn't seem to grasp the extent of the problems with the car... and his advice usually sends me down a dead end...
