So many factors to consider though - my Outback was at 195,000 when I sold it and it seriously drove like it had 50k. Awesome car.
I guess the turbo versions would always have a shorter life expectancy?
Anyway, my Forester is getting new wheels and tyres today. So keen

Anyone thereeeeeeeee.......................................?
Fark its quiet.
Seized sounds familiar though.
Whatever, ask Leigh. Mine's fine anyway, he was just telling me he's been running around doing H6's. Was just passing it on to Jazzooooon.
Nik,
If you would be so kind, could you ask Leigh for more details, and any other issues I should look for re the H6?
From what has been said it sounds as if the oil pump is mounted in the timing cover (chain drive cams) and the seal/gasket fails between the cover and the block causing a drop in oil pressure to the engine. If the oil switch is mounted near the pump, it will not see this pressure drop???

...it's a replica! But it's done very nicely. I was surprised it was a replica.
I'll take a photo of the area, and I'll give Leigh a call for you.

The $4k thing was a replacement engine cost for someone who just loved the smell of burning oil.
Check for oil around the front of the engine (I know you're a fuckin' mechanical wizard, just relaying info!) and be very wary if it's prominent.

When I hit a decent bump or have to hit the skids on uneven ground, I get an almighty sound through the speakers in my car. If the stereo is off I can slightly hear it, but it's much more noticeable with the radio on. I thought it might be tied to the ABS, but it's doing it without brakes being applied? Curly one. Leigh's going to try and have a look tomorrow, just wondering if any of you blokes have experienced it before?
Sounds like metal scraping.
@Brett: No. It's not the rear tyres smashing against the inner guard.
