Just thought I'd throw the story out there.
I was pulled over last night.

At about 12pm I saw in my rear vision mirror a set of headlights pull out of a reserve.
I then saw blue and red flashing lights, So i pulled over. The cops went straight pass so I returned to the road.
I then saw the cops had pulled over a black Supra and the police was signalling me to pull over with his torch.
He told me that he clocked the supra at 87KM P/H in a 60 Zone he said that I was catching him so he'd give me an estimate of 10 and over.
I was also not displaying P plates after fitting number plate protectors today.. I forgot to put them back on.

The police came and spoke to me after the supra, he said that the guy told them I was tailgating and had my high beams on..
When i hadn't done any of the sort.

$500 in fines and 6 demerits.

They've got you for p plates but nothing else. 'If' you were only doing the speed limit. Stick to your guns. I they didn't get you with the gun they've got no proof.

Did he show you the radar? You might be able to fight it if you don't know supra driver

I didn't know the supra driver.. They have no proof of my speed it's only estimated, that's what he told me.

You should be able to dispute it then as the supra would be cryin wolf bout you as hel get slap on wrist makin you look like bad guy if I was you I'd call a lawyer tomorrow get proper advice

They have a right to estimate and it will hold up in court...

If you were done by the estimated 10 and over and for not displaying P plates, then I wouldn't dispute anything and just say it was unlucky. However, if they got you for anything over what the Supra driver told them, I'd definitely go to court. Without a doubt. Police cannot take action on 'what ifs' or just by going off what someone told them. Even if it were to be true, they need proper evidence.

The worst part about this is that, I should of had my blacks by now.
But i hadn't received a letter or anything, so I wasn't aware that I was able to go for them.

Sucks about all the fines mate. At least they didn't go over your car and try and defect you for something as well.

You don't get a letter, you just have to go off the date on your licence.

There is no letter. You should know when you're eligible... I know I was counting down the days!

I though that they didn't take off the demerits until you pay the fine. Possible to go for your fulls and then cop the points? I think a lot of people down here do a similar thing with P-off.

Also, doesn't your licence expire after your P-plates period is up? Mine did. But I didn't have to pass a test to get my blacks. Because Canberra.

Until you pay the fine, you can go for your blacks. I'm talking from experience
EDIT: Usually six months after your eligible for your next license, you current license will expire.

I've had a few mates do the same thing and get away with it.

Misses works at the roads and maritime office aka rta and what the boys said is true. If you get a fine you cannot upgrade a license until the fine is sorted. Plus this is sort of what happened to me to and that was something I had thought to do as well

If you go for your blacks before you have paid the fine, You will be pulled up while filling out the form.

One of the questions asked is: Do you have any demerit point/fines that haven't been processed yet?

If you say no and get away with it, You get stung with a fine and lose your blacks for the same amount of time as they stung you when you were a p plater. Because the incident happened on p plates.

Suck it up, Take it to court and maybe get a bit of time taken off the suspension.
