scored a 140cc pit bike for $200, got some RHS left over from the first failed bench build, should make a good frame

If I was a hoon wishing to modify my car, I would get some cheap old banger and do it to that. Should it be confiscated then meh.
We may find that we will see an increase 'zero fucks given' modified cars meaning the mods will be less safe than they are now.

I just don't think it's right that you can get defected whilst interstate, IF your car is legal in the state it's registered in.
That is just madness.
The example of the 4wd with an N.T. legal, 4" Lift kit, can then get defected in QLD is a joke, have fun selling tourism...

Also reading some of the comments below, those people really have no idea. I have a loud exhaust some people tell me, however it's within the legal decibel limit.

It's going to get progressively worse until we are all not allowed the freedom of driving a modified car. I can see a day where every modification incurs a tax added to your rego, when you verify its safe by an engineer you go to the RTA and apply for the tax. When the cops scan your plates, bam this guy paid his tax, move along. This prick hasn't, DEFECTED, TAX EVASION. They're making the police work too hard for their revenue if you ask me. We are already living in one of the most regimented countries in the world.

@tsg...I am more concerned that a cop (not an engineer) can just basically 'decide on a whim' if you get a defect.
It is bulls'hite.
Do I include QLD in my trip if this law is passed? Nope.
