I might get into real estate. Currently doing research on a Certificate IV in Property Services (Real Estate) at TAFE...

 

Anyone know much about real estate, whether you have experience in the field (past job may be) and whether it is a good career to get into?

Had 4 mates (2 damn good sales people) quit after 3-4months.....It does depend on who you work for though, and how confident you are.

For what reason/s? They didn't like the job? Couldn't handle various aspects of the job?

 

I've worked in retail for five years before and have no problem talking, making conversation or trying to sell a product. Confidence is key too, a characteristic I too possess, but I am nowhere near overconfident. You are right about it depending on who you work for though. That'd go for any private job really though wouldn't it?

I'd like to continue with architecture, but there is just so many years involved before you can be called an architect. Until then, you're only ever going to be a draftsman. I've just reached a stage in my life where I wanna do something, I just don't know what yet. I want a career. I'm sick of having jobs that last me a couple of years and then I want to leave and look for something else. I want to be able to get a career with proper career progression and the chances of developing my skills in a specific area.

 

I was in retail for 5 years, got over it. I was a senior sales assistant. Was offered many opportunities to become Assistant Manager and at one stage a Manager of a store in Merrylands, but when I went to agree to the position, they came up with a bullshit excuse as to why I couldn't apply for it. This would've been in my 4-5 year period being with them.

 

I am currently working as a trainee in Roadworks and Maintenance for the Sutherland Shire Council. There is no career progression here. If I was to finish my traineeship (next year in June), I'd become a labourer, can potentially be promoted to Offsiter and then Foreman, but that's it. No major pay increases either.

 

A career path I'd like to get into would be (in order of preference): NSW Police Force, Customs, Australian Federal Police or the Fire and Rescue Service, but I won't be able to apply for them until September when my 2 year without a fine period expires.

 

Feeling like a sook at the moment I think and confiding in my fellow SubyClub'ers for motivation and/or experiences to assist with decision-making.

I guess I'll sleep on it and see how I feel in the morning. It's my girlfriend and I's 7 year anniversary in about 30 minutes. I'll stay up to call her at midnight then die only to wake up to a nice day filled with going out for breakfast, day activities, dinner followed by evening activities.
