Not sure ash.. Just some random car that I got out of when I parked.

So is the Camry or Pulsar yours?

I like to think of it as borrowing someone's car and driving it better than them.

$250-300 to fit a new thermostat. Sound about right??

Are you having a lend at the moment bretty? If not, no def very very very over priced if it is just the thermostat being replaced.

I would expect that If they did a full cooling system flush, new thermostat(these are like $20-$30) and new coolant, I would think that $150 would pull it up pretty easily at the top end of pricing.

Hmmm, I wasn't joking. Genuinely don't know how much I should be paying. They called Vicky, I just got a SMS from her so I don't know anything more than thermostat. Problem is I don't have the time to fuck about sending the car here and there to save some dollars.

Sig worthy.

Considering how easily accessible the thermostats are, you would think it would be cheaper, however considering the layout of the engine it would need to be drained right.

I'm assuming the thermostat is in the same position on all EJ engines.

Thermostat is piss easy to get too, drop the bottom radiator hose and then two bolts to take the housing/cover off.

Brett, I'll give dad a call and find out for you what he would charge as a comparison.

I was relieved when I saw how easy the thermostat was to access, coming from a fwd where you needed to remove the intake manifold and alternator just to see the housing.

Apparently they ran the car, one hose was hot, one was cold, and as they couldn't find any leaks even under pressure/load they are saying the thermostat is at fault. I have no idea if this is a solid diagnosis. Jase???

Sig worthy.

Well if the thermo isn't opening then the hose stays cold (have found that first hand). Not the only cause but would be the most likely.
Dad reckons with coolant $110 to replace the thermo and flush and what not.

Yep. You just said what they did. I'm a spastic.

Good to see you've got your car back Josh. Where has it been all this time?

I HOPE YOU'RE HAVING A GREAT DATE NIK! PICS OR YOU'RE DATING A MAN.

How long is she gone for. GF wanted to take a backpack holiday to Asia for a month or 2 or till funds ran out. Changed her mind to 2 weeks in Bali after Xmas.

She is going for four weeks man. Last year she went to Europe as well about the same time, but went for almost two months.

So, you are saying you are at work only voluntary?

Of course not. But it was forking boring as. As the day progressed I did a bit more but nothing tiring at all. Good day. :)

Now I'm home, hungry and about to leave for indoor soccer.

Its best to use a genuine thermostat in subarus, or a really high quality one aftermarket.

I got overheating problems with a non genuine one and soon as i put the genuine on it it stopped overheating

it was only a few weeks old aswell
