It's very common in the states to have wet wipes in the bathroom. I think they might be onto something. 

Was the sponge wet?

I'd imagine it would feel a bit like a dog's tongue if they were.

I kept forgetting to take toilet paper home for ages, so I had to wipe my arse with a kitchen sponge. Strangely satisfying, yet at the same time, one of the most wrong things I've ever done.

I was trying to wash it, but it was stained up pretty good, so I threw it out. I wasn't going to use it for kitchen use, but it was the only sponge I had, so like... you know. If you have to shit again. You don't want to throw it out that night.

 

The biggest kicker is that I had remembered to put six rolls of toiler paper in my car, but then forgotten that I'd done so. Imagine the look on my face when I got in my car this morning and there were all these TP rolls on the passenger seat.
