Nice Rob.
Coincidently I was just looking at salary averages etc. I'm doing ok for what I do (web dev). Cost of living has really caught up with my parents and their mortgage (wages arent rising in qld atm), so it had me curious. I already earn the same as my dad at 50 at 25 and do 4hrs less a day, I'm hoping to push it 20k further before needing to make a change, study etc. But unfortunately career progression seems to be a thing of the past for a dev, you literally need to get up and change jobs. Doing that alone has scored me $20k/yr more and the job is actually easier lol.
I did a Bachelor of Multimedia, majored in Design, self taught myself web programming. I actually work with a uni mate atm, he let me know of a position and recommended me to his boss - got a random email out of nowhere. Networking is the most important thing.
I wouldn't worry about the future, just stay focused and do what you enjoy.
