Simon, not as bad as Radelaide, where some guy got held up for his donuts on the first day of opening.

For those that suffer insomnia, below is the eBay globe saga..........

Me:

Hi, I just received my shadow chrome globes. Thank you for posting them quickly but I wish to ask for a refund, as one globe does not work and the other barely produces any light and I consider it unsafe to use. In addition, the globe casings are of very poor quality and do not fit correctly in the globe sockets. The fit is so bad I have concerns that the globes will fall out when in operation. I would appreciate a swift response in this matter. Regards, Jason

Him:

Sorry about the defective bulb as sometimes it does happen during postage as those halogen has filament in it. However, i suppose buyer should award those chrome bulb are dimmer than oem due the a thick layer of mirror tint has been applied onto the bulb and the one i am selling is dark chrome which is even thicker. You wont expect something brighter when you compare something clear and something with semi solid paint on it. I have just checked the fitment of the t20 and they are fine mate. Anyway, we do offer refund unless buyer send the item back at their own cost which is stated in the listing however since you are kind enough to let us know before leaving any feedback and the cost of returning the bulbs cost more than the item itself, we offer you a full refund without sending them back but you do require you to leave us a positive feedback beforehand. Let me know.

Me:

Hi, I understand that globes can fail during shipment, but I find it hard to believe these globes contain a halogen filament. I have used shadow chrome globes before, and I have never found such a great loss in light intensity. Nowhere in your product information does is state that the globes will have a reduced light output. Halogen filaments typically produce higher light output for an equivalent wattage. I am a qualified mechanic with over 20 years experience, I currently work as an Automotive studies trainer, that includes auto electrical subjects and I am a licensed vehicle inspector. I do not believe that the fitment of these T20 globes is fine . They are the worst globes for fitment that I have ever come across. Thank you for your kind offer of a full refund, but I cannot accept that I would be required to provide positive feedback (before a refund is granted) for what I consider to be an inferior item. I will only accept a refund on the provision that I leave neutral feedback and comment on the poor light intensity of these globes, as I am confident they are not at a standard that could be considered safe for road use. In return, you would refund the cost of the globes only ($10AUD) before I leave the feedback. If you are not able to accept my terms, I will forfeit the refund and leave negative feedback based on my experience. Looking forward to a swift response, Jason

Him:

I guess you may have to go back to school to do more study. All halogens are made and lightened up by filament mate. Do a search on google by just typing t20 filament . Take a look at your standard bulb before you tell me you are working as a mechanic. You are a mechanic or an automotive trainer doesnt really relate to this issue anyway. Given the same wattage, the one which is covered by chrome tint are dimmer which is a common sense especially when you said you have bought something similar. Anyway, the feedback thing is more like a free trial offer. You accept it or not is up to you We do take the risk for a negative feedback after we issue a full refund which mean we lost the product, postage and feedback as well. Or else you are welcome to open a dispute on paypal. Thanks.

Me:

Thank you for informing me about Google, it proved very handy. So handy in fact that a quick search revealed the difference between a halogen bulb and an incandescent bulb which is what I believe you sold me. My point about my background was to establish that I am very familiar with fitting globes and as stated, the ones you sold me were a very poor fit. I compared the T20 globes you sold me against the original T20 ones in the car (E1 certified - Google can help you with this) and you can see that the shape at the base of the globe is different, thus causing the poor fitment. When I compared the light output of the 21w shadow chrome globe you sold me against a BA15 21w shadow chrome globe from my other car, the 21w globe from my other car produced far more light. Wattage and voltage remained constant for both globes. So you are not willing for me to leave neutral feedback for a refund for the globes only?

Him:

What i tried to say is both types of bulbs have filaments inside which is very easy to break. I have no idea where you bought your dark chrome bulb as end of the day they are just a normal bulb with chrome layer on top. I have the same one on my car and they are acceptable bright to me. I do admit that the base is not 100% like oem but we fitted them in a regular base and not a single bulb cannot be fitted or lost. Anyway i do not have a clue on what you are doing at your side as my buyers love them. To be honest, a negative or neutral feedback doesnt do much different to me. A full refund is perfectly fine to me unless you return the bulbs back to us at your own cost or the mentioned deal. You can open a case on paypal if you want to.

Me:

Forgive me as I am now somewhat confused. If negative or neutral feedback is of no concern to you, why did you not accept my terms? Are the globes now to be returned to you before I am able to be refunded any money? I understood that from your first reply that they need not be returned, however, I am happy to return them if you wish. As you live only a few streets away from me, am I able to drop them off personally and save on unnecessary postage?

Him:

Your term is basically a full refund + seller pay return postage + whatever feedback you want to leave. Our refund policy stated we will not refund the postage + goods need to be returned in paypal however what I offer is a full refund without returning the goods + a positive feedback just in case buyers leave us a -ve feedback after we give a full refund. The pickup location is (address on the other side of town given)  so you can drop there and if no one is there please put a note and drop into the letterbox.

Me:

So I am not able to return them to (address 2mins from me), the address they were posted from?

Time to go around in circles methinks.

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?
