Yeah it'll be good. I've had a few and each one I have stopped drinking way earlier than I wanted to so that I'm able to make it to work the next morning... It sucks alright. I think people do it for the cheaper rates.

Hey also Jase, when you have time to answer, been looking at XB four door Falcons. GT is out of my budget but what downsides would there be to a 500 with work, wouldn't make it a full GT replica, but paint in same Walnut/Silver as my dads was. Any limitations to the 500? XB is the priority model,looking at buying over next 12-18months when a less dodgy 500 comes on the market.

Hey Jase, saw some cleaner Fairmonts than 500s in my searches today. Might have to go 4 door Fairmont.

 

I was thinking about your earlier post.

 

Fairmont will get you some more goodies, GS will get you all but a few of the GT goodies.

 

I would try and budget for a factory 351 as this will come with the better transmission, FMX auto, but still gets the B/W single ratio rather than the toploader of the GT. The 351 single rails had closer ratios than all the others and all XB 351's came with a 9" diff.

I think by the time you chase and pay for these bits, you'd be better off forking out for a Fairmont or GS 351.

 

All XA/B/C will rust. 

Rear wheel arches, sills, floors (if windscreen leaks), rear window, boot seal and lower rear front guards. Just to name the obvious.

There were a surprising number of early Escorts, some of which had the late model block with the Focus head conversion. Just like the early engines, they rev like fork.
