Hey guys, am looking at buying an 04-09 Liberty and want to put on an exhaust. What are the best options here and where do I find them? Have looked for hours over the Internet etc and cannot seem to find what I'm looking for
Buy the exhaust first (much easier to source than the car itself), then I'd worry about finding a Liberty to put it on.
Step1. Exhaust

Step2. Car (We are fortunate enough to have a caresales rep. in subyclub. So if you have any troubles just holla at the top of your lungs)

04 to 09 is pretty broad. Gen4 is up to MY08 (Very late Gen4) and MY09 is 5th Gen.
2.0 NA
2.5 NA
2.0 Turbo Twin Scroll
2.5 Turbo Single Scroll
3.0 H6
There's also differences between tip lengths between sedan/wagon.
What part of the exhaust do you want to do?
More information required.

Ideally I'd like to upgrade the exhaust system without having to upgrade or switch the headers. I was thinking of an x-force 2.5" system. Am looking at the 2.5L base model liberty sedan somewhere in that year guideline. Probably around 2007

Nice.
I think some twin tip mufflers (STI style) will give you a nice bit of noise (not too loud).
If you wanted a bit more noise you could do a cat-back which also deletes the factory resonator. A cat-back would be ample for your wants.
Though, for an NA I would leave it at just a nice set of free flowing mufflers.
I think TCP Auto used to do them. Might be worth flicking them an email?

My toaster runs STI muffins. All good like it should.

If you are located in Sydney, I can recommend somewhere for your exhaust parts. Chris from Best Mufflers in Carlton stocks Xforce so if you want to go down that path definitely hit him up. I bought my 2.25" Xforce front muffler and Y-pipe assembly (stainless steel) from him. I've also got TCP Auto mufflers which do sound quite nice. Here's a video I made when I first installed them.
I'm yet to make another video of how they sound lately as the tone does improve with a bit of carbon build up through the system.
Wanting to buy/looking for: single genuine STi rim, genuine STi front lip, Corazon or Zero/Sports grille and another OEM grille

Nice man. I can only find 2.5" X-force pipes and mufflers though... How long ago did you get your 2.25"?

Would've been around this time two years ago actually (almost to the day).
Weird. I can't seem to find them either. It may be best to give him a call directly in case he hasn't updated the website yet.

I've heard a lot of people say that they find an exhaust a bit drony and irritating on the 2.5i without headers. Has anyone had experience with this and can tell me what it's like with every day driving?

I can't really speak for a 2.5i, although there should be some clips available on YouTube mate. If I come across one I'll be sure to post it here.

Yeah. Every NA Subaru drones if you just chuck a big muffler/catback on. That's why it's best to go with something quiet unless you go headers.
That being said, adding headers to a 2.5i, unless you have some for a cheap price, is an expensive exercise in futility.
If you want minimal drone just go a nice oval muffler/s.

What sort of size do you reckon is good to cancel the drone then? 2" or 2.5"?

Sorry bro I am new to the game and don't really understand the difference between a muffler and a canon. Please explain? The threads are a bit old and none of the links work so they don't really give me much

A canon is a type of printer, or alternatively it is the entire body of works thought to influence a particular period of time.
All the links work.
