pews are looking at home in the RS mate!

Need to get that gear knob polished up quick smart too

Anyway, torqued to spec is just the manuals way of saying 'we couldn't get it any tighter, see if you can'.

Guess I should give an update.

Car is finally registered, running like an absolute treat except for a suspect worn rear hub bearing and a knocking front left cv shaft. Will replace the shaft before the christmas cruise and maybe worry about the bearing later on.

Only a small update but I don't really have much more to add on to that. Other than the fact that I love driving the car! It's such a fun ride!

Cheers, Chris.

Looks tidy as. The RS Wagon was the first car that really got me into Subaru's.

A mate had one in blue something like 14 years ago. I always loved hearing it fly by!

Keen to know what worked for you.

Haven't sorted it yet. Oil should be on the cards soon. More focused on getting the outback sorted cos it has a leaky rocker cover gasket

So I've had an entertaining couple of weeks.

Decided to put the guard liner in the drivers side and when I was putting the wheel back on I managed to ruin the thread on one of the wheel studs. So off to Repco I go to get a replacement, "Oh we'll have one in the morning." Cool I thought it was sorted. Go and pick it up only to return home and realise that its 10mm shorter than the rest. Take it back and they don't have the size I need and said it would take a few days now.

I said nah give me a refund, went to another store and got one about 5mm LONGER than the rest. Turned out better than I expected but was just really annoyed that my 5 minute job spanned out over a couple of days instead of the afternoon. Now for the shit story.

I went fishing after work yesterday and took the RS cos more fuel in it. Get home and its making this hissing sound for multiple minutes after shutting off, thought it was the WAIC to turbo pipe. Tightened and seemed to be sorted but there was coolant on the block. Get to today, car is cold now so I removed the rad cap to see no coolant at all in the header tank. Filled some water in and did a pressure test.

Water comes spurting out underneath ther WAIC and intake manifold. So I tear out the WAIC and take the throttle body off to find that its one of the throttle body coolant hoses and its swelled up from oil and split. Thank god its that and not something else. Now to go get some rad hose tomorrow and bypass the throttle body completely. Fun times and shit games with this car. But shit happens, at least its something easy and not stupid...

Also a little update, I've got a rear bar that is far less damaged than the current one, just needs to be painted so it can go on. Also have a set of power folding mirrors to be painted and got chrome handles to go on too. Fun times ahead. Next on my list in a boost guage and a HKS Super Power Flow pod filter while will get installed with a resonator bypass.

Bloody lucky with that coolant leak mate!

Personally I wouldn't go a pod unless it's going into a nice box to avoid hot engine bay air. The Gen2 air box mod might be the better way to go and it'd look more factory/undetectable to those who don't know one Subaru engine bay from another. A pod however is easily spotted!

You could always cut the bottom out of the factory air box if you're after induction noise ;)

Cheers
