Good fun, cars now running on 3 cylinders, seems like its #1 as I unplugged it and it made no difference to how it ran. Will get a new set of plugs tomorrow and do a full plug and coil check. This car is doing my head in  :dash2:

This is the "joy" of owning older subi's!  I went through this with my L series Ruby Scoo - I almost gave up, instead I held on and I've not looked back since.  So glad I stuck with it!  That was about 6 years ago now!

Hang in there! It's worth it in the end!

Cheers

Bennie

I'm not giving up, but at this moment its past my knowledge so trailering it to melbourne to get it looked at is a possibility right now. Just can't trace the issue myself..

Got this sorted yet?

I thought it'd be an injector, spark plug or coil issue. My bet would be a coil.

Nope, not plug or coil. Replaced the plug and swapped coil pack 1 and 3 over and it still runs like shit on cyl 1. Injector seems to be fine as I can hear it ticking through a screw driver, maybe I should actually replace it. I got a compression test kit for christmas so will run that on it if I have no luck.

Hope you had a good christmas dude and a happy new year too!

Swap injectors around and see if the probelm moves with the injector ;)

It could be blocked - I'd think it'd still tick but not give any fuel into the cylinder.

And thanks - have good new year to you too. Hopefully next year we might be able to get the two RS's together at some point ;) Hopefully mine will be operational by then...!

I'm too lazy and haven't touched it yet hahaha

Had a brain spark while thinking about how it starts, seems to start fine and then idle fine for a couple of seconds before turning to poo. Gonna give it a can of Upper engine cleaner soon and see how I go there. Then comp test if the uec doesn't help.

Tried a few things with no results. Its getting towed to Melton tomorrow where a friend is gonna look at it and we'll do some wrenching on it. Worst case scenario, he has spare motors so hopefully I can work out something with him.

You know how it says running 100%... Weeellllll.....

Its got spark blow out at 5k rpm and sometimes drops a cylinder, so gonna replace the coil packs and go from there

Ended up doing the old tape up the coil pack trick and it still does its funky shit. Maybe fuel filter/pump?? It drives fine most the time anyway, just has its hiccups now and then but sorts itself out. Will be making its way up to HVC this year though!!

Haha drove up and back from HVC with *minimal* issues, but its currently running on 3 cylinders again. This time its cylinder 1 being dodgy, coil pack is still working so leads me to think that the rocker arm has come off for cylinder 1 like it did for 3.

When I can be bothered touching it again I'll pull the rocker cover off and see what happens. Some V3 sti heads may be in the works in the near future, just gotta pay off some debt that I owe. Also throwing CEL code 24, which is new to the cars issues, so will have to see what the go is there.
