It's all deliveries today so the workload is pretty light for me. I basically just have to make sure all balances are settled before the customer drives the car away.

Hey Niko.

We did the usual, Christmas eve with my family then they spent Christmas day with their Mum's family. I get my youngest back today for pretty much the rest of the school holidays.

 

My eldest doesn't want to spend much time with me lately, as she refuses to acknowledge my missus. We usually go to a friends property near Seymour for a few days during the school holidays and both the girls love it there, motor bikes, paddock bomb, pool and heaps of other kids. This year my missus was also invited so my eldest decided she doesn't want to come. There was some unkind and hurtful behaviour displayed by her and my ex towards my missus, when the my missus met my ex for the first time at an event for my youngest. I spoke with the eldest about it to help her understand that this behaviour was unfair and un called for, I think she gets it but she is stubborn and standing her ground. I'm getting no support from the ex and she is making it worse by enabling this behaviour and she refuses to discuss any parenting matters until the property settlement has gone through. Essentially she is using my daughter to get what she wants.

It all started when my missus scored a cabin with mutual friends, at the same campsite and at same time as when we will be camping there later in the holidays. The ex started on my daughter with the "I cant believe your Dad invited his girlfriend on your family holiday'. The irony is that my kids have been away with her and her partner and that's all OK. (he's actually a decent bloke but I find him a bit annoying) When my eldest didn't want to interact with the ex wife's new partner (someone who she started seeing shortly after our split) I kept reminding her he was a good bloke and he made her mum happy.

I have told my eldest that I would love to have her join us, that the missus is on the other side of the campground and she can choose whether or not to interact, but I cannot allow poor behaviour and if she feels she can't behave, then the right thing for us to do would be to leave so as not to spoil someone else's holiday.

Any time I try to talk to my daughter and she cracks it, she calls her mum and immediately ex comes and picks her up, then I don't see her for days despite it being my allocated time. I love my daughter more than anything, but it's clear to me she is manipulating the situation.

 

Teenage old girls are damn hard work!

You've got a lot going on man but I hope it all improves for the new year. I can only imagine how difficult it is from all perspectives. Without going into detail I hear stories of my missus and how she went through it all when she grew up. I think patience is the best way to go about it.

 

I usually have massive family gatherings for New Years, but this year I've not heard about any plans. I've been invited to a mates place though which is good so that's the likely bet. Tonight I'm off to watch Sydney FC play against Perth Glory.

Ah that's no good Jase, but you're right, teen girls = drama. It is a shame the ex is leveraging the situation in her favour rather than encouraging everyone to get along. Similar stories have played out in my family, with my cousins and also my niece. As they mature things change and your daughter will come around. Change is shit for kids and divorce provides such an unstable world that these kids get to make decisions they are too young to make, like deciding who to spend hols with, your ex should have been there for you and told your eldest there's no choice.

I honestly believe what you say Niko in that she is too young for such decision making and that she will come around. At the moment I'm just going to stick to my guns and do what I believe is right for my kids.

Nice things happening for me this year. Moving out with my missus into our first property around August (should things go well with construction), buying a new car which is arriving around April, and I think I may just tie the knot...
