Not particularly.

I'm a fan of some IPAs I've tried recently. Little creatures and hop hog so far

Creatures IPA is boss, but I'm a big fan of their Pale as well, the IPA is too heavy for regular drinking. Creatures Pale is my first pour, then Squires 150 Lashes.

Have you tried Lord Nelson Three Sheets or Sydney Brewing Paddo Pale Adam? They're quite nice and locally available.

White Rabbit is good in cooking, not too bad to drink either.

The two week build up under the grain trailer instantly transported me to Cowaramup...

I was literally ankle deep in festering spent grain last week. Our spent grain silo ( hold 14 tonne) blocked which meant the spent grain coming in from the Brewhouse was being forced through the gap where the lid doesn't quite seal properly. Due to it being pushed in under 6.5bar pressure, it sprayed out all over the bulk CO2 tank and the malt silo area. Was not fun.

Sig worthy.

i sent that link to my team. My TL responded with

could be worse, you could be stuck in a deadend IT job fixing virtual problems with no impact on the physical world and the never ending prospect that once you finish this set you will work on a repeated set of the same stuff and go home without any satisfaction in your role and have to buy someone else's beer.

yup I am here for pep talks, go team!

What a dick hahahha

Stuff goes here

Nik will already be across my exploits over the weekend.

Decided to bust the ghetto brewery out and out down two batches of beer - did both the same this time.
Used Maris otter pale as the main malt, bit of Vienna and a small bit of dark crystal malt.
Did a 90 minute boil, Columbus in @60 and 30 then some Amarillo at 15 and 0. Will also dry hop with a bit of Amarillo.
No forking idea how it will turn out as i was drinking beer while planning it out on beersmith. Hehehe
First batch didnt got to plan as I don't think I used enough water - got s.g of 1080 (when cooled) and only 14L (was aiming for 20) haha.
Nik suggested I cut it back a bit because it would be hard to get it fermented - cut it down to 1065.
Second batch today come out at 1060 and I got 17.5L so closer to target :) but not right on.

Question for Josh/Nik. How much room do you need for a home brew kit? Obviously the physical size of the fermenting drum etc but do you just need a dark indoor area to store it? And what do you boil it in Josh? Like how much needs to be Boiled in Litres?

Hi,

Josh has what I'd call an advanced home brew kit. Modified vessels, etc. He does full grain mashing, which is literally the same as a Little Creatures brewery, just smaller (within reason, don't stab me Brett)

I'll let him answer.

These guys are expensive, I'm just posting the link to give you an idea of what I mean.

Cheers,

Nik

Ah, I think from reading I'd need a pre-crushed malt extract, and then hops for the wort. But am I right in assuming the wort is the same volume as the final batch, the wort isn't a concentrate that just has water added after the boil?
