Hi Richo, That is a CITRUS Wheat Beer, not infusion but aimed through hop addition to have strong citrus flavours. Also, the fact that it's 7%ABV would have a distinct sweetness in smell due to the alcohol. This should also translate as sweetness on the tip of the tongue. I couldn't think of anything worse, but a very interesting beer. Nice post. Cheers, Nik

a CITRUS Wheat Beer

Oh, I see.

not infusion but aimed through hop addition to have strong citrus flavours

W00t, I got one bit right, kinda :D I didn't really notice much in the way of citrus TBH, well, kinda, but not a lot. I was just plain confused hahha

Also, the fact that it's 7%ABV would have a distinct sweetness in smell due to the alcohol.

The 7% bit was the first thing I notice on the lable. I was like.. ummm. I guess the combination of just getting over a cold and the hight % threw me off a bit, cos I didn't know what I was smelling

This should also translate as sweetness on the tip of the tongue.

I'll tell yuh what, if you missed the tip of the tongue, it was very average

Hi, I can't think exactly what hops they would have used, come to think of it, it's more likely that the yeast pitched would have been a more citrus flavour determining addition. But there is a couple of special guests here this weekend that will talk hops, grain, yeast and water to you until the cows come home drunk. Cheers, Nik

Hi,

77 Lager is the NUTS. Loved it. I am heading home for an Amber from them now.

A couple of us might have started MDSC a bit early this year...

Smoked beer. Brewed in big shiny silver things... with smoke. And then pulled with horses, LOTS of horses (and smoke).

I have some additions to this thread.

People who have been following my facebook updates....It's the same.

Stone's Ginger Beer:

Sticks and stones may break my bones, but give me a sixpack of this, and I won't care what you call me! This is now officially my new favourite beverage! Its an alcohol ginger beer... and tastes soooo good!

Sunshine Coast Brewery - Ginger Kegs Alcoholic Ginger Beer:

A very light and smooth white style of beer with essences of barley apart from the obvious but subtle hint of Ginger. Closer towards beer than Ginger beer. Not as sweet as Stone's but perhaps more refreshing even! I'm going to try find a sixpack of this to bring back home with me!

03/09/09 Fat Yak Pale Ale:

A WA Beer served at the (real) Ettamogah Hotel, on QLD's Sunshine Coast. A real nice beer tasting of hops with a light after taste. Quite refreshing.

03/09/09 Sunshine Coast Brewery Chilli Beer:

Another local beer made on the Sunshine Coast in QLD. Like the Ginger Kegs, it is a light and very refreshing beer, with that all-too-familiar (for me at least, here in Queensland) chilli kick in the pants. Its not like drinking molten lava however, its a nice little spicy aftertaste! I like it!

Tried these last night:

*edit* I fail at attaching pics so clicky click the link: http://img136.imageshack.us/i/1003546u.jpg/

Both very tasty, I'd say IPA slightly more refreshing, very hopsy flavour.
Amber Ale- nice and refreshing when cold but got "better" as it warmed slightly with a linguring "nutty" flavour.
:drinks:

Thanks for introducing me to IBS Nik. Now I'll never have the funds to get a GT. Bootlegs Stout is a pretty nice drop, but I still think Cowie's pips it at the post. Cowaramups Special pale ale is quite nice too. Mind you it doesnt balance very well on the edge of a table hey Richo?!

Sig worthy.
