Its like hoegarrden, but with flavour!

(unlike the last witbeir I tried, this does not try to bring in citrus flavours and it is also a lower % (4.7). No confusion this time, just wheaty goodness)

Hi, Haha, no ish mate. Mass produced crapola. By the way that is the biggest photo I've ever seen of a beer. Cheers, Nik

This is the latest beer I have tried,Comments written by somebody else. Still not to bad of a beer after you get over the first bitter taste. Cheers, Cascade First Harvest http://publocation.c...rst-harvest.jpg LIMITED release beers are like a ‘lucky dip’ for your taste buds – you are never really sure about what you might get but from experience it’s usually pretty good. Cascade have been bringing out a limited release drop called First Harvest for eight years now and after tasting this delightful ale, it’s easy to understand why it comes and goes very quickly. As the name suggests, this ale uses the first hops and barley of the harvest season and the result is a wonderfully flavoursome beer which isn’t overpowering in its flavour. First Harvest has a distinctive hop flavour to it and this can, in some cases, deliver a sharp bitterness which takes a bit of getting use to. This isn’t the case with First Harvest with the aftertaste much smoother. There’s a spice (almost herb) quality to this beer which has a wonderful full aroma which adds to its appreciation. Funny how the smell of a good beer can enhance its appeal but these days, there more to drinking beer than just chugging it down (true story). It has a rich coppery colour, a good creamy head and a lingering aftertaste which allows you to fully appreciate the flavours of the hops coming through. Like many limited release beers, the flavour may vary from season to season but that’s what makes life interesting – comparing last year to this year’s brew. Cascade First HarvestAt 5.5 percent, First Harvest packs a punch but like all good premier beers, again it isn’t so much a whack in the face, more like a cheeky little upper cut. In other words this Cascade drop can sneak up on you so don’t plan on going anywhere after you have a few. This is a limited release so you will need to move quickly to get some and you may have to order through your local bottlo. First Harvest is an ale which has good sessionability but is a ‘filling’ drop though not a heavy beer which sit in your gut and makes you feel bloated. I would suggest this as a starter before sitting down to a dinner such as roast like lamb or chicken or even some of your Greek-style lamb dishes rather than your heavier red meats. This is definitely a beer to sit and appreciate at the end of the day.

It's 2-all now on the raunchbier, Dad absolutely loved it... Tried the SCB "chilli" beer, wow, tastes like fresh chilli's. Also tried the Belhaven "wee heavy", as the bottle says, "to be sipped, savoured and fully respected"... awesome beer.

Hi, Coopers Pilsner is apparently terrible. I haven't been out much over the last few, so haven't tried it. But from all accounts it is anything but a Pils, and is terrible. I would assume it will be palatable, inoffensive and best enjoyed ice cold - like all Coopers. ...should be in a can too - the SA's know what's up! Cheers, Nik

It's nothing to write home about but I wouldn't go as far as terrible...

Spot on! I always find Coopers to have a "homebrew" feel/taste to them.

NO beer should EVER be in a can.... it's just wrong!!!

Hi, The Coopers people will tell you different. They are still fighting to have their beer sold nationally in can, as apparently it is much better for taste preservation and also preservation of the beer itself. Completely blocking out any sunlight goes a long way to not tainting beer in any way. The bloke on the Coopers tour said Dr. Tim's in a can is the best beer they sell in the eyes of the big men. Strange, but true. Cheers, Nik

Hi, I missed a major part out there, sorry, the idea is to pour into a glass from the can. Then drink it. Cheers, Nik

Ahhh OK, so it's not the can flavouring the beer inside?, more that by drinking it out of the can your mouth is in contact with the alum? which would also explain why the Kaiserdom 1lt cans I've had haven't suffered from the alum taste cos we always drink them out of the glass stein's that come with. Cheers!

Hi, That's actually a great example. The European 5L mini kegs are always lovely in flavour, and you always pour into a glass. Cheers, Nik
