I thought all ECUs could be read via the flashing CEL, just that pretty much nobody does it because OBDII and dongles etc. I read the codes on my sister’s 2000 RX with the plugs under the dash and the flashing CEL. I guess yours is probably removed anyway with the reflash…

I reckon your rack will be fine, it’s the pump I’d be more concerned about.

Cheers

Bennie

Pump is bone dry. Drips are coming from under the rack tower/where the fittings are

Yea, you can still check codes using the plugs Nick. Just not as defined with the information you get.

Or are you talking about the carberry rom not having that function?

Hmm dont recall seeing any black plugs, nor did i read anything on the net about GD era stuff being able to flash the CEL

In usual fashion the car is now back apart. Ripped the turbo, up pipe and dump pipe out and got the PS lines out. I was expecting a double o-ring but found 0 o-ring on one of the lines
OTg1OlX.jpg

Which would certainly do it

While the turbo and coolant was empty ive swapped my coolant return setup to a banjo to -8AN then a -8AN to 1/2 barb 45 degree. This should pull the hose closer to the turbo and out from under the TMIC
33iyNXS.jpg

This only took about 90 mins weirdly so im expecting a shit fight getting it all back together lol

O ring wasn't stuck in the rack or something silly Nick?

Turbo coolant line looks good, but I certainly agree it looks like its gonna be a nightmare trying to fit the pipe to it. Probably better off splitting the fittings from the turbo, putting the pipe onto the fitting and then rejoining the fittings to the turbo again.

I'll see if I can find them on the GD/B4 loom in the shed and take a happy snap for you. I have certainly used them in the past when I didn't have a code reader.

Cheers,
Ben

MY00 Red RX, a nice daily that was sold off once the B4 became reliable...
MY02 Blue B4, aka 'The Project' - v8 JDM STi engine package and assorted other 'goodies' - Sold, then bought back for parts. Stripped and crushed.
MY03 Blue RX, the newer old daily, pretty well more B4 than RX now... In the process of being converted to the track toy... Watch this space!
MY02 Silver Wagon, H6 conversion, full blue/black leather and almost full black interior to go with it. In process of being stripped and sold off.
MY03 White/Silver H6 Outback, donor car for silver waghoon. Scrapped.
MY97 Silver RX, acquired to become track car, but plans changed. Scrapped.

MY13 BRG, current daily, very nice to drive, small mods to make it even nicer again.

Nope poked around a lot with a pick in the ports and no o-ring. I suspect it was because the AN adaptors i was using didnt have a lip to keep the o-ring. So when i pulled them out there was no o-ring on the fitting and then promptly confused myself as to which port it was from and whether i needed to put an o-ring on the fitting vs it being in the port etc. Either way fixed now

No issues putting the hose on. Only trick was to put the 45 fitting onto the banjo and tighten it off the turbo, then install the banjo to the turbo. Pic makes the clearance look worse than it is but theres plenty of room

Had the first RWC inspection on Friday. As expected I didnt pass but the list is very minor and the exhaust and ride height etc are all fine.

  • Rear washer jet not working
  • Handbrake adjustment
  • Wiper blades need replacing
  • Drivers seat town
  • Drivers door handle broken

A trip to the wreckers for a handful of washer motors and a drivers seat and those 2 items are done. Went to supercheap for some new wipers all around and repainted the wiper arms while it was apart
ud0VoeT.jpg

Ben brought me some door cards to replace the rubber seals on my ones as they were torn/non existent as well as a new door handle so thats fixed too.

While poking around I installed my HKS turbo heat shield
lxTyUrb.jpg

and finally reinstalled the front spats

I also got some black pinch weld from a gen 4 at the wreckers which can be made to work in a gen 3. I didnt take any pics but i will at some point

Good to hear the parts helped out. Let me know if you need anything else.

Ben

Looks nice.
Certainly more rewarding than replacing wiper blades!

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

Damn. I've got a set of those pedals somewhere. I hope they didn't disappear with the B4 when it went to scrap a few years back. I see someone had those pedals with a price of $350 yesterday. Might have been RHDjapan.

They look the goods. Shoes are recommended, mine sliced my toes open many times but that's what you get when you are a thong wearing mofo like me.
Loving your work mate.

Cheers Kong

Drove it an hour and back to get a new windshield without an issue. Unfortuantely ive lost the OEM heated windshield but not having chips and a crack is better

Heated windscreen..? What are you, a high altitude jet :P

Pedals are a nice touch. Doubt I’d even look at them at $350 a set!

Part of the "Winter Pack" or standard on a GTB or something.

Same style things as the demister bars on the rear screen to melt any ice freezing the wipers to the screen at the bottom. Useless here but still cool JDM stuff
