Had the car aligned on thursday is now -3 and -2.5 in the rear. Equal would be ideal but for a local tyre shop rather than a enthusiast place i cant complain. Only charged me $80 for 1.5 days worth of having the car and fiddling. Camber and rolled guards seems to have solved the rubbing. Went for another drive with the misso and 0 rubbage. Happy days

Finally could be bothered to install the boot mat properly with some stick on velcro on the back seats

and clean the tape and mess off the rear scuff plates to complete the set

Them’s not happy days mate. Zero rubbage with the missus is never a good thing :P

Kong is right, that rear mat is full JDM dope, so out of whack with everything else they did with these rides!

Cheers

Finally got around to buying new brake pads

Opted for Dixcel Type ES. According to Dixcel designed for hard driving on windy roads and rated to 600c. Checks the right boxes and $100 delivered from Amazon JP of all places

"extra speed" - not an encouraging name for a brake pad

Rego lapsed so its just sitting around until i find money to pay for it again. Hasnt expired or anything just need to pay it. With some warmer evenings and longer daylight i can be bothered to give it a proper wash
nbnVIxG.png

In other news i bought myself a fancy new tig cup and some non radioactive tungsten so have been playing around with that. Difference is fairly wild. Safe to say the old cup wasnt doing the best for gas shielding. Im going to at least redo the top piece of the cold side as thats really the only pipe you see

Nothing much happening on the car front lately. Just driving it occasionally on the weekends.

My ever wonderful partner decided i need to be spoiled for some reason so took me to bunnings and said what tools do you want. I was just after a new toilet seat but left with a new bench top belt sander and a drill press
M6DBbEM.png

Also decided we were going to rearrange my shed to facilitate fab work and a "tools bench" and give it all a good clean and tidy up

Sounds like a typical Bunnings run to me! I’d add their new dremel like power tool to the mix too. So awesome!

Shed is looking tops too.

Some more stuff and things arrived

The sti brake lines and Silent Power ordered in July or something. The gold front calipers im trading for my red calipers as i want a more OEM look
6qg24r0.png
oKPHAzo.png
wwzqvyh.png

As ill be opening the brake system to change the lines, and because the rear brakes are absolutely fried ive gone down a bit of a rabbit hole.

  • New seals for the gold calipers
  • New seals for the stock rear calipers
  • New blank rotors for the rear
  • New pads for the rear. Trying the same DBA SP pads cos theyre cheap and the rear doesnt do much in comparison
  • Coat of black paint for the rear calipers
  • The new dixcel pads for the front

In an ideal world id get the rear brembos on but thats realistically $1000 in parts vs $200 to get things up to snuff

Bunch of stuff been doing and happening.

Had an absolute fork around trying to get pads and rotors for the rear due to no one keeping forking stock these days and being not a wrx or sti none of the performance shops carry parts on hand. So took 2 weeks to get some blank DBA rotors and pads for the rear. With that being a fork around i got stuck into swapping on the silent power. For whatever reason the mid pipe i have has the cross member exhaust hanger. This is normally on the end/start of the diff back piping so any bolt on muffler has it there.

My plan was to shorten the mid pipe so that any muffler would then bolt on. This fell apart when i realised that 99% of bolt on mufflers have a 2.5" flange despite 3" piping. So that had to be cut off as well and basically negating the idea of a Michael Bolton affair at all. Didnt realise this until id already cut up the mid pipe. However this does at least mean the location of the muffler is set using the 3 hangers and it fits perfectly. So an afternoon doing what i said id never do and doing exhaust work under the car.

Cut the 2 flanges off, salvaged the flanges from the cut off bits, cut up some fresh 3" stainless and sort of made it do enough that i could fill in the gaps. Still havent replaced my bottle of MIG gas so again tacking under the car with the tig. Fun

Came out alright in the end. Real ***** welding the flange as it needs heaps of amps to get a puddle going which very quickly blows out the pipe. Getting a good angle was also very tricky due to having an entire muffler hanging off the other end.

Like the super dragger its not designed around the aero bumper so still sits in. Again ill sort it out one day with an extension when i feel like ordering some like 5" pipe
Z7J58SQ.jpg

Also gold brembos and stuff are on
EN20zfN.jpg

Pads and rotors finally arrived last night (23rd October) so slapped that all in and bled the brakes with the misso on the pedal. Brakes feel rubbish with it back on the ground so probably needs a drive and another bleed to get the last of the air out. Calipers would have been empty as well as all the lines so makes sense

A lot of work again as usual Barbs! That Tig welding effort isn’t anything to scoff at mate! Fair effort. And still getting loads more done than I am on anything atm!

Keep up the good effort ;)
