Neat trip Barbs! How many kms all up? And do you get sick of freeways?

There looked like some quality roads in those pics too, something were lacking out this way.

Cheers

At least 3000ks. Freeways are fine. Just zone out and get it done

Unfortunately you need mountains for good driving roads. Not a lot of them out west. The quality of the roads forking sucks ass though in NSW. Infinitely better here in VIC

Think my TT outback likes the Hwy better than your lag machine single. I kept up pretty good in the hills with those nugget STI's.

Full boost @ 100km/h + speeds in 6th gear is a bonus of the TT system, Having cruise control now is the icing on the cake.

Going to miss that primary turbo when the Blouch goes on soon.

I thought Simon was all about the aids… he must have the spicy cough or something.

I've had aids for 6 years now, never had a problem with the system, its never let me down.

But I want more power (161 Kwatw) is not enough, the new forged 207 with 272 cams and blouch dom 1.5xtr on E85 and controlled by the Link ecu.

This new combo should give me 300 Kwatw ish, should be happy with that.

Plus the TT is a bitch to work on.

Not much going on atm just some bits and bobs arriving on the slow boat

STi front scuff plates and S401 magazine
fObkzgT.jpg

The plates themselves are mint but the gel coat over the stickers has some cracks. Whatever they were $50. Rears are still in japan

Pulled the catch can out for a look after the trip. Not much going on which is good

That’s the opposite of my catch can on the brumby! That’s how they should be…

Neat find on the mag and scuff plates. Can’t get those cracks tidied up/buffed out? And I’m guessing the magazine is in Japanese?

Cheers

is it gelcoat? Either way, I would have thought a light wet-n-dry and touch-up with clearcoat would be the trick.

Car is looking schmick.

Nah, they're resin dome stickers, and once they're cracked, there's nothing much you can do. I've got another identical set in the shed with the same issues. Looking to see if I might be able to get new ones made and then sell, but I'll be losing money by doing that, so probably won't bother.

MY00 Red RX, a nice daily that was sold off once the B4 became reliable...
MY02 Blue B4, aka 'The Project' - v8 JDM STi engine package and assorted other 'goodies' - Sold, then bought back for parts. Stripped and crushed.
MY03 Blue RX, the newer old daily, pretty well more B4 than RX now... In the process of being converted to the track toy... Watch this space!
MY02 Silver Wagon, H6 conversion, full blue/black leather and almost full black interior to go with it. In process of being stripped and sold off.
MY03 White/Silver H6 Outback, donor car for silver waghoon. Scrapped.
MY97 Silver RX, acquired to become track car, but plans changed. Scrapped.

MY13 BRG, current daily, very nice to drive, small mods to make it even nicer again.

Had some more goodies arrive

STi pillow ball rear control arms
IQ1zD8g.png

Im not interested in everything adjustable and threaded. Solid arms with nice quality oem spec pillow balls will do perfectly. Bonus E Fame for the STi stickers. Theyll go on the shelf to be installed with a full rear subframe redo at some point

Also spent an hour on the caramel wheel stripping the old tape off the sill plates and installed them

But it's ok, cause I found a cure.

Install Blouch Dom 1.5XTR and aids be gone.

My current brake pads in the brembos are a set of DBA SP pads. Street pads. Last year on the NSW trip i got them hot to the point they more or less stopped working. Funnily enough ever since theyve been not right. The initial bite was gone and they were really terrible on this years NSW trip. So brakes are next on my agenda.

  • Braided lines
  • New front pads
  • Skim the front rotors for said pads
  • New fluid

Ideally id do the rear brembos but id like to do the plates, arms and subframe stuff all in one go so they can wait

Anyway nabbed a set of STi braided lines last night off yahoo. You could argue that getting used brake lines isnt the best idea but price was right and they look in perfectly good condition
scWrXtX.png

Theyll be on the import monster slow boat as apparently Japan Post is really cracking down on oil/fluids in the post. Should give me plenty of time to sort out some new pads (Winmax W3)

Im also going to start gathering some bits to redo the head gaskets on the 208. Some discussions with Rob the tuner/mates who encourage bad ideas lead to the fact that the engine should be fine making 220kw~ if the head gaskets were ok. We then realised the valve springs in the 208 heads are the same as later 207s with 8k+ rpm limiters. So plans are

  • STI MLS head gaskets
  • Solid bucket conversion
  • Replacing gaskets and seals that get touched rather than everything as its all fairly fresh still
  • Valve stem seals
  • Deck the heads
  • ARP 2000 head studs
  • 8000 rpm limiter
  • 20 something psi
  • Hope it doesnt fall apart

Dont know when this is gonna happen as its only pushing water under big load (like it always has) so its fine to get around. Rather than my usual move off pull it apart then gather parts im gonna do the opposite

Got a few more bits and bobs on the way from Japan

Neoprene boot liner. Put a half hassed bid and lost, saw the winner posting about it on facebook the next day thinking it was for a BG. Informed him it was for a BH and he offered it to me for what he paid (peanuts) so winner winner
kya3V88.png

Fabric cargo liner thing. That i impulse bought after losing the neoprene before i saw the facebook post so will probably on sell
3KtLfkt.png

Rear STi scuff plates. Not meant to have stickers and are the exact same as blitzen rears which is a bit of a hack for anyone looking
9stII1r.png

225/40/18 Sailun Atrezzo R01 tyres. Wanted something a bit stickier/sportier than the S001 and these are extremely affordable. Delivered to my house for $476. Basically 1/4 the price of something like an AD08. From what ive seen these review really well. At the end of the day its not hard to make a sticky tyre so id imagine they arent as nice in the wet/loud compared to a "name brand" tyre. Will see how they go. Have an appointment book to install them next weekend
iFdVrDd.png

The big 1.01 exhaust housing is also on its way. Also picked up a spare set of GT and Bilstein badges to one day black them out when i can stomach paying $50 for an oem black subaru badge

I'd be really interested to hear how the tyres go, they actually look a bit like an AD08.

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?
