Good to keep it all nicely hidden away. Although just need to remove all the hose connections etc so there's not a heap of empty hose barbs on the side of it.

No updates this week gents. Basically waiting on valve cover gaskets etc to be in stock and for me to have money

I know the money thing Nick. I want/need to put in an order for some HGs, some Pajero odds and ends plus some front Paj wheels bearings. Much cheaper to buy OS than locally even with postage costs associated with the weight of the bearings (full replacement unit including hub). Crazy... but can’t complain that there’s options.

Valve cover gaskets and shit are finally ordered. Just need a steering column adaptor now and engine can go back in. Probably be next year unfortunately

Monday update here we go

Dogged by auspost and Fedex so my valve cover gaskets and whatnot didnt arrive so no engine content.

 

So installed the new bumper instead.
 

Old one off. Thankfully no surprises just road grime and dirt


New one on. Thankfully the paint is pretty much perfect. The old one had copped a hit at some point. Had a small bend on the passenger side and was cracked all along the front. Chucked the plate on for lols


While i was there i got sick of looking at the grotty stock brakes so chucked the brembos on as well

Valve cover gaskets and stuff arrived


Lost my grey sealant so cant do the job. Par for the course really. You just know the second i get home with a new tube itll turn up

I've had a set of gaskets and a new tube of goop sitting in the garage for 12 months and haven't gotten around to it.

Nothing particularly exciting this weekend on the BH front. Some of the OG NSW crew came down for the annual christmas bbq (which i didnt take any photos of as i was manning the bbq) and donated some bits and bobs. Mainly intercooler/BOV related. Finally bought myself some new slaz so got to install the valve cover gaskets and what not. 

Engine is ready to come off the stand and have the rear main and separator plate inspected. Wont be doing that until i sort out a steering column adapter. I got a stock GD one from the NSW blokes so going to look at swapping the unis over rather than paying for the premade ones. Worst case i fork it up and am up for the premade one anyway

Swapping the unis over was going fine until it wasnt.

Basically you hammer progressively larger sockets into the opening to open it up and get it off the uni


Of course i managed to spill the needle bearings everywhere so cleaned and regreased up the "sockets".

The BH one could be removed in a less glamourous way with a grinder


Repacked all the needle bearings and put it in the vice to close it back up. I didnt get it 100% lined up and managed to ding the top of the bearing race, which i didnt realise. Got it together and it was all notchy so pulled it back apart with the sockets, spilled the needles, went to repack and the needles cant stand upright in the section i dinged up so everything is destined for the bin.

0 sum game i guess, just have to find $200 for the L&E one. Ah well

Any easy way to just cut the shaft between the uni and the clamp? Then weld the other one onto it? End up making your own hybrid joint?

The gen 3 shaft has no discernible shaft. The unis are right up against the rubber isolator so no easy way to cut and weld

Any chance of removing one from the rubber isolator and transplanting one at that point?
